Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 24, 2009 9:02 pm Hi I am currently looking into building my first home. I am finding I am going through stages where I some days I think it is a good Idea to build a home and other days I am feeling it is not a good idea at all. My main concern is when you are quoted a house and land package as $460,000 if this all the costs incurred. From reading some of the blogs people are saying that it costs 5k for a driveway and then 4k for painting internal. Can anyone please give me a heads up as to what the realistic cost are involved with building your first home. I am also a first home owner and am Finding this all very full on hence some days I think it is not a good idea to build and to buy a pre existing house. I am guessing it depends on what the contracts state. WHat should I be looking for in a contract, what questions should I be asking when I visit the display homes etc. looking forward to hearing the responses M Re: Building Virgin 2Dec 24, 2009 9:33 pm Depends on what the house and land package incorporate, usually they will include the word "turnkey" which mean that it should include everything. They will then try to upsell the crap out of you for this that and the other. In a Turnkey house most things are average from the kitchen all through to the letter box, antenae, clotheline etc. Best to do some research first on the area and visit open homes and get some RPdata reports to understand what others have sold for that you are looking at and you will probably see they went for more. Dont worry about being a virgin as most of the sales guys will screw you big time. Just dont give it away easily and learn that your first never really loved you go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110550 Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11033 |
