To be honest I would rather just get the tiling finished and start finishing our house and get into it, plus its about a cm - two off so a lot of work and waiting to fix it where as measuring it to start with would of saved the hassle . I however would be making notes about who we had as plumbers and maybe keep an eye on new clients builds as mine hasnt been the first to have plumbing problems. Yes I agree Rhi, and this is now receiving the attention it deserves. Oh how I am very excited, its been a lone time coming hope it all goes smoothly babe . I can't wait to see the finished pics especially once your in and painting etc done Re: Building 'The Benchmark' My experience/UPDATE 444Jan 23, 2011 5:54 pm Soooo we started finals on the 18th and since then and now we have had the aircon installed, tapware in, pavers dropped off, internal painting first coat done, so the next two weeks are going to be hectic!! I actually seem to think it will take more like another 3 weeks, I will be suprised if its on time. We have also started booking in for all the other stuff to finish so that by th end of March we will be all ready to move in!! I have been asked quite a bit now about my experience with redink so I thought I would put it here for ppl to see Sales 8.5/10 - Exc guy and really helpful Prestart 6.5/10 - Great Staff but took way to long to get back to us. Office Relations - 9.5/10 Brilliant CLO couldnt be more helpful!! Supervisor - 8/10 - Great guy Build - 7/10 - Overall very easy but they made quite a few errors but were very quick to fix them!! A lot slower than the homes around us that are roughly the same size so that is a little dissapointing, also our build has quite a bit longer than someone else who built the same house as us and even if we take our xmas and our brickies were a little bit slower we are still weeks behind. Overall I would build with redink again 8/10 RHI - BALDIVIS PERTH 2005 Bought/Finished WA Housing Centre Home 2010 Building the Benchmark with REDINK Homes in The Avalon 2013 Building the Michigan with Cont3nt Living In Highbury Estate! Re: Building 'The Benchmark' Plumbers!!! 445Jan 26, 2011 12:47 am So we thought that we would go for a drive to the block and take a peek inside and see what has been done Electrical looks complete, pavers still need going down and it doesnt look prepped but we were told they would be out by the end of the week so we will see. Glass screens ready and waiting to be installed and Bulkhead replaced which is fantastic! I am however annoyed as the plumber still hasnt finished but thats okay its more the point that it looks like they have ripped up part of the slab due to the plumbing and there is water running from under our sink which makes me wonder how much cabinet damage there is, I could only see partly through the window so I am hoping I am wrong!!! I think I am just getting impatient watching houses that started 6 weeks later than ours flying past ours! I really hope this does not cause delay as I will be ultra annoyed if it has wrecked the cabinets or cause water damage as this mean we will now have to wait for the cabinets to be replaced!! I guess lets just hope its easy fixed and we are still on schedule. Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 446Jan 27, 2011 11:44 pm Update Time... So spoke to our CLO today and was informed that the shower mixer that the plumbers broke they actually cant get and that we need to order it, lucky enough I rang the company and they will dispatch first thing in the morning so that was good! We were also told that there is a leak with our water (the kitchen problem) and that the cabinet makers and the plumbers will be there on Monday to rectify the problem so heres hoping nothing is damaged. Someone did bring it up that if there has been a crack in the pipe and water has been leaking all this time (not too sure when the leak started or if it was just when they put it in last week) who pays for the water bill, I myself wouldnt think it would be something to worry about but he got me concerned I am going to get this massive bill now :/ I guess we will see when it comes in. I am hoping that the cabinet makers will be there to fix the gaps in my cupboard doors and to swap over the overheads cabinet doors. I am actually really worried that when we move in and use our taps there will be problems, I just have very little faith in the plumbers seeing as they have screwed up so many times and really dont want to deal with it all then. We also have been given some dates which are only approx so heres hoping its sooner but PCI is around the 18th and handover around the end of Feb to the start of March I am hoping its worst case senario so fingers crossed. PB - Out of curiosity how long was your build from slab down to handover?? Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 447Jan 28, 2011 9:47 am slab down 8/6 - handover 15/10 so what's that, about just over 4 months Glad they are fixing it all up but yeah shouldn't have happened in the first place! How the heck did they break your shower mixer . Far out your build feels like it's going on forever, but I think they built ours so fast cos we p!ssed them off to much . Our fix it list is getting longer, rang them the other day about our TRILOCK, it quite often won't unlock from the inside , I have to unlock it about 6 times from the outside to get it to work again, we've been put on maintenance list, havn't heard anything back from them etc etc think we have 6 month thingo in April! Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 448Jan 28, 2011 6:00 pm Oh not good PB, I think we have the same door handles so heres hoping we dont get stung with the same problem. What else do you have to fix?? I just want to work out how far out ours are as I feel like this is taking forever as well. Vundafuls was about 23 weeks (hers was over xmas) yours was 18 and a few days and mine is about 28 weeks I get a nnoyed a little as my FIL is a building supervisor with another company and he said it should def not be taking this long and I cant see why if they realise mines been taking longer than it should that they dont tee up all the trades to work back to back instad of having noone out there for days RHI - BALDIVIS PERTH 2005 Bought/Finished WA Housing Centre Home 2010 Building the Benchmark with REDINK Homes in The Avalon 2013 Building the Michigan with Cont3nt Living In Highbury Estate! Re: Building 'The Benchmark' Update 449Jan 30, 2011 3:52 pm So went past the house again today and noticed that all the internals have been painted apart from the front doors Mostly looks great but there are a few paint areas that arent up to sratch but they will be bought up at prestart. I could also see through my study window a nice shiny silver thing and noticed it was my beautiful oven Gosh I am in love with it and its mchuge!!! We did notice though that above the wir's in the back bedrooms there is huge chunks of plaster missing like they didnt bother filling them but I am gathering they will check right through the house before pci and be fixed before then. Render I thought was getting the paint coat this weekend but maybe because of the cyclone they canned it but it will be nice to see the outside finally getting done soon so we get an idea of what our house will look like My FIL has also said he will come with us to PCI (he is a building supervisor and quite a good one!) so that will help us pick up thing we wouldnt normally notice till well down the track So apart from all that it was good to see something happening and getting closer to the end Once we get more done I will take some photos for you guys RHI - BALDIVIS PERTH 2005 Bought/Finished WA Housing Centre Home 2010 Building the Benchmark with REDINK Homes in The Avalon 2013 Building the Michigan with Cont3nt Living In Highbury Estate! Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 452Jan 31, 2011 9:38 pm I know PB we are somewhat steaming along now I shall get you some pics agabob when we are out there next So went past again and met our next door neighbour who is really nice and also noticed floor has been fixed and kitchen nearly fixed, they are also replacing the part that were hit with water so thats great too!! Flyscreens are now on. Still waiting on the paving and still waiting on the painting (external) PB - When did you get your external painted?? was it right before handover?? Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 453Feb 01, 2011 9:37 am yeah painting just before, they are what held stuff up, they did the main part and then took ages to come back and do internal painting (the gloss) and the front doors were done dead last. The portico render went on twice cos they mucked it up, so went on at the last minute for the second time but was originally done quite a bit before handover I think. Do you have your garage door? Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 454Feb 01, 2011 11:36 am nah no garage door as of yet. Our internal painting (the matte stuff) was done ages ago and only gloss painted the other day. Our portico has the render but not painted yet unless there is a coat that goes on top which we have been told that should be done soon. Front doors are the same and outside is all yet to be painted. We went past last night and some of our eaves plaster underneath is cracked and not lined up properly so we will have to wait on that and in the games there is the new bulkhead which hasnt been painted still but that may be getting done later. The bulkhead came up looking great so I dont know why all the rest are so bad. They also painted the cornices in the garage however there is paint on our brickwork Hopefully all will be fixed before PCI as I am sick of waiting. It been 18 months in total for land and house and I am really over it now.
