Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 461Feb 17, 2011 9:47 pm Sooo guys Had PCI this morning and found that most things were ok but we did run in to a major dilemma which has ** me off to the max but there is nothing we can do about it. - Gutters need replacing as roofies look to of dented them all - Need touch up with paint in house - Brick needs replacing out front near window as its cracked - Eaves plaster needs replacing as its cracked. - Brick work needs vanadium staining washed off - Brick work needs plaster and paint removed off bricks - Downpipes need repainting due to painting the wrong colour - Roller door was forgotten about by the manufacturer so have to wait on that. - Window sills needs paint removing off window frame - Sink in ensuite needs connecting as plumbers have misplaced the plg and waste we took there initially - Power point under sink needs face plate on - slab needs filling where hole was created in kitchen - door handles on wonky - Shower screen on ensuite needs to be put on - they needed to replace a tile first as it was chipped and best of all! Our 750 bucks a pop feature french doors are warped!! More irritated by the fact that we have been told it can take ages as its a warranty by the manufacturer and they need to come in and assess and they need to be hung, ummm well replace mine and hang them somewhere else. This is now becoming a nightmare and I am becoming very over it, I just want my keys 18 months yesterday since we signed up for our block RHI - BALDIVIS PERTH 2005 Bought/Finished WA Housing Centre Home 2010 Building the Benchmark with REDINK Homes in The Avalon 2013 Building the Michigan with Cont3nt Living In Highbury Estate! I got my prestart costing last friday. I thought i will get paving done from outside as i was thinking of getting some paving in backyard as well. guess what credit they are giving for paving to driveway and pathway to entry - only $240.00. Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 463Feb 17, 2011 10:34 pm I feel your pain Rhi.... our french doors are warped too and apparently they are meant to have 3 hinges - bit late now considering they are in the bloody frame! I got my prestart costing last friday. I thought i will get paving done from outside as i was thinking of getting some paving in backyard as well. guess what credit they are giving for paving to driveway and pathway to entry - only $240.00. Its not good!!! yeah $240.00 isnt much back seeing as they were going to charge me $540 to do a strip which I wouldnt think would be as big as what you would have had removed. I love my CLO and my sup is a nice guy but somewhere its slipping, my house shouldnt of taken as long as it has esp when others who we know who are building through redink are well infront of us and even finished already!! tamallen I feel your pain Rhi.... our french doors are warped too and apparently they are meant to have 3 hinges - bit late now considering they are in the bloody frame! Who is your supervisor? Oh I am really upset by this!!! We spent a fortune on them and thought they looked beautiful till we closed one and they didint close flush. Do you have big gaps between your doors too?? We have 1 - 2 cm gaps between our doors and it just doesnt seem right, I mean why the hell have doors to block noise, something just seems off! I am just getting to the point where I just want it to be done with as its always a few weeks but it never comes!! I do wonder though that if all my gutters are dented, eaves are cracked etc why it wasnt picked up before PCI. In two weeks it will be my birthday and that was our estimated 10 working days after PCI so lets just hope that they can get it right and give me keys for my bday!! This mumma is getting impatient!!!!!!!!!!!! My ss's first name starts with an S not too sure what his last name is I did however write a letter about my CLO to her boss as she would be one of the best ppl I have ever dealt with and would be one of the reasons we would build again! I must admit I hate having a lovely CLO makes it hard to be angry lol RHI - BALDIVIS PERTH 2005 Bought/Finished WA Housing Centre Home 2010 Building the Benchmark with REDINK Homes in The Avalon 2013 Building the Michigan with Cont3nt Living In Highbury Estate! Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 465Feb 18, 2011 12:22 am hi rhi - did u get stone benchtops through builder? builder has quoted me $6647 and i got outside quote for approx $4500.00. saving of over 2k. what do u think - should i go with builder or outside. do u think there will be risk of damage etc by tradies of builder who will be working after the stone is installed in house. Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 466Feb 18, 2011 1:37 pm Hi CC101, I would def be getting the benchtop outside but make sure you remember to get it installed before splashback so the tiles meet the benchtop. Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 467Feb 21, 2011 8:17 pm Spoke to Redink today regarding our doors today and they have worked out a way to fix our doors. We will be putting on mushroom stops and a bottom bolt on the inside of the doorto stop the warping. We have been told the house will be ready for handover by next Wednesday so we will do handover on the Thursday and start getting the wood, sliding door and lights in and finished before they start the lay. I would like to say a big thanks to ct@ri for fixing my issue and watching this forum!! I can't overstate how much difference it makes to work with someone like you who is prepared to work with us for as positive an outcome as possible. Be sure to let you CLO, SS or me know if there's anything else we can do to make sure everything goes smoothly for you from here on. Cheers, CT Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 470Mar 02, 2011 2:00 pm how is the build going rhi. you must have handover by now. I need your opinion on selecting internal and external doors. did you upgrad your doors through builder? Did you consider doing doors upgrade after handover or it is cheap to get through builder. all the internal doors i am upgrading to corinthian atherton @65.00 each. i thought i will upgrade only bed room doors to semi solid to corinthian balmoral pbal4 but they costed me $2168.00 for 4 doors upgrade. this is so very expensive. the retail price for that door is only $174.00. similarly front doors are pretty expensive through builder. Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 471Mar 03, 2011 10:31 am YAY KEYS TODAY!!!! IN 3 HOURS TO BE MORE EXACT!! Oh and its ma bday too so nice bday gift for me CC101 - We decided to upgrade our internal doors to the standford or atherton (the one with the wood grain) because we would of gotten next to nothing back per door and it worked out cheaper for us to do it with the builder than pay someone later to come in and do it even if we bought the doors as they were $65 anyway in the store we went to. In regards to the bedroom doors I would def not be paying that but saying that I wouldnt be worrying about putting semi solids on my bedrooms, I also wanted all mine to match so made them all the same. Our front doors werent as bad as I as expecting but still more than I think they should of been but we decided it was worth the upgrade especially when we upgraded everything else and front doors is the first thing ppl see. We recieved a few quotes on the doors to take them out and do it ourselves but to be honest it really wasnt worth the hassel. Only thing we found really expensive that we found ti was cheaper to do it ourselves was the tapware, we got quoted 5k and I got it all for 1k and they installed it. The other thing we found was the glass splashback and laundry slider which saved us about 3k combined. Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 473Mar 06, 2011 12:02 am So received the keys on Thursday and was excited to have a good look at our new home but now we have a list of about 15 items that need rectifying already and somethings just cant wait the 6 months Redink will be getting a call first thing on Tuesday as I am really just over this all now! - Bath plug wont pop up and down (we supplied this after the first one we supplied the plumbers misplaced and now this one wont work even though we tried it and it worked before we handed it to be installed) - Superclean was not superclean at all! and infact I need to go clean all my shower screens as they are dirtier than before. The ensuite shower screen even had silicone still on it! - Front door inside has yellow discolouring/stain on it which wasnt there at PCI. - Grout and tiling is all miscoloured in main shower (thought this was water before at PCI but obviously not) I am not too sure if this is due to dust/cleaning products but water doesnt seem to get this off and it looks horrible. Tiles are uneven too which we thought was just the dirt but obviously not. -Paving out front dips TOWARDS front door (not very smart if it rains!) not to mention there is cement on a paver which was mentioned previously at PCI. -Ducting doesnt look connected to the vent in roof above gas pipe, this should of been done well before handover. -Paint still on bricks in garage. -Redink repainted front doors but when outside looking at front doors there is paint all on the trim at the bottom of the doors. -Paint on front door handles. -Front doors have chips all in them and looks like the cleaners have gouged out paint and wood when scraping the feature french doors and front doors clean! -Front window cant shut properly as window frame is off alignment. -Plaster wash and paint still on brickwork out the front near tap. -Window sills are so roughly painted that there is no paint on some parts (cant tell unless you feel or look closely as they were the white mdf already) and some sills have sand in the paint or something that makes it rough when you run your hand over them. -Kitchen bench join was filled but it looks like they coulnt be bothered doing it properly and now I have a join that half filled and half left. -Top an bottom of wet area doors not painted neither is garage door (thought this was a requirement) -Window in ensuite still has writing on it where the superclean must of missed it :/ -Metal Floor sill going from garage to house has glue/silicone on it. -Pavers near garage all uneven, paving in general was below average. Even our neighbour commented about how bad the job was! I am annoyed that some of this stuff was picked up at PCI and it was not rectified but at the same time we didnt put it on the list as we were told the cleaner would fix most of this when they did the superclean! I must admit it was presented very nicely with bows and hangers but I would of much rathered a house I didnt have to go through and clean after it apparently had a 'SUPERCLEAN'. I really hope I can get them to come and rectify most of these items asap as a lot of these were brought up at PCI and silly me gave the benefit of the doubt when going through the second time as they were minor items we were told easy to fix, stupid me for trusting! Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 475Mar 06, 2011 9:35 am I hope so! Some things arent urgent but stuff like the bath waste and window just shouldnt happen and I dont believe its up to us to have picked that up, I mean we arent supervisors and we arent being paid to do that job. We even had to call out the electricians as they forgot to connect our oven the other day so lucky we werent moving straight in. Some things we can wait for like paint in garage off but saying this why should we have to when some of this was brought up at PCI, I guess we take partial responsiblity for not checking over it all but our list was so huge at PCI with all the minor stuff and with our sup telling us it was easy to fix and that the trade will fix it all up we didnt think we had to check over it all, we assumed if it was so easy to fix and the trade had been out they would of rectified the other items but obviously not! I am just so dissapointed! Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 476Mar 06, 2011 7:56 pm Very interesting read Rhiannon, i was wondering what the 'superclean' would be like i'm about 1-2 weeks away from handover and will keep this in mind - when do they demand final payment? Very disappointing but it honestly doesn't surprise me. i hope they fix your problems urgently! Tam Builder: Gen1 Homes Design: Custom Strata Location: WA Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 477Mar 07, 2011 6:41 pm @ superclean, it's an absolute joke how bad a job their cleaners do. Glad you got your keys. Sorry you've got so many issues already, but definately not surprised! Hope they rectify the big problems ASAP! They still havn't looked at our door locks and we called them ages ago, may as well wait til the damn 6 month thing. Re: Building 'The Benchmark' with REDINK Homes 478Mar 07, 2011 11:57 pm Hi Tamallen! I hope they fix them too! I spent the best part of my weekend cleaning up the house and washing everything down, still have a lot more to go and need to do the showers but I am hoping maybe they can come look at them first to see about this grout! Hi PB!! Superclean was not what I thought thats for sure! I expected the house to be clean but instead I had windows with marks on them, shower screens with dirt and silcone on them and marks all over my doors, let alone they gouged my feature doors. I have a bucket of stuff in my pantry so looks like I will have to get the paint out (if they left any) and start fixing it up I am just really annoyed! It looks so good if you dont go up close and look at the quality but as soon as you start looking at it properly you see all the stuff ups. I would ring them and get onto them about the front locks. I will be emailing and ringing first thing tomorrow morning as I want my bath fixed asap as well as the window as that is just not on!
