Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 23, 2009 10:09 pm I think i may have set a new record for council approval. Our Builder, here in WA, submitted our plans electronically to Canning Council on Thursday afternoon at 5pm, by Lunchtime on Tuesday they were approved. Thats right 2.5 working days !!! I couldn't believe it. The city of Canning are quite good, in that: If your house conforms with R-Codes (setbacks, boundary walls etc..) then the plans can be submitted electronically and generally approved with 2 weeks. If your house is a bit outside the norm (custom build etc..) then the plans cannot be done electronically and have to be paper based, and will take 6-8 weeks. Anyway, just thought i would post a good news story about a local council, that is taking the common sense approach to building applications. Re: Quickest council approval ever ! 2Dec 23, 2009 10:27 pm Congratulations alexjohn. That is a phenomenally quick approval! Hope things continue to go quickly with your build. That's awesome. Ours has taken 7 weeks so far.. and we're still actually waiting on the plumbing/drainage part. And this was AFTER we already submitted the exact same plans for development approval.. which they have approved already. Very glad your council has it's head on straight! We'll be dealing with the City of Melville and from what I've heard from various people, they're hardcore compared to Canning. I live in the Canning region and when we setup our patio, they were really great to work with and soooo efficient as well. Congrats alexjohn!! I'm hoping ours gets approved fast - it's in Blacktown City Council who is known to be fast, but I highly doubt it'd be that fast. Congratulations!
