We're just starting to get our colours together now - it's so much fun!! What size block are you on? I couldn't tell on the plans I'm looking forward to following your build! Re: Our Topaz in 2010 6Dec 29, 2009 5:50 pm Hi 2pais It's been AGES since I've been on here....joined a while back but have had to wait a YEAR for our land to be released (Logan City Council ). Finally came through end of November...work did start on the 23rd of Dec but probably won't officially start until end of January. We're building on an acre block with Hallmark in south Brissy so I was really happy to find your thread. We've gone with the Flair 258 which is very similar to the Eton but slightly bigger. I guess I should start my own thread soon but I'm going to wait until they definitely start working. Looking forward to seeing how your build goes...best of luck Re: Our Topaz in 2010 8Jan 08, 2010 9:30 am Hello everyone. Hope you all had a good start to the new year. Few more pics. I especially love the feature tile in the main bathroom and the splashback for your kitchen!!! We should be ready to do our colour selections by the end of this month (hopefully!!) so I'm doing plenty of ground work now in getting an idea of what colours I'm going for. Hubby knows it's going to be a nightmare with me cos I tend to be really indecisive - I can't even pick out my shoes in the morning let alone what colours I want for my new house It's going to be interesting! Anyway best of luck with the rest of your building journey and keep posting updates. We'll be starting our own thread soon as well! Re: Our Topaz in 2010 10Jan 09, 2010 3:19 pm Thanks n&n All the best with your colour selection. Deciding colours is one of the hardest things to do as u cant visualize what the overall effect is going to be. Well im keeping my fingers crossed it will all look as expected. Now its out of our hands. Looking forward to following your thread. Cheers Re: Our Topaz in 2010 11Jan 12, 2010 10:09 pm Hi 2pais Have you received your convenat approval back from P33t??? Just wondering how long we should expect to wait once we submit ours. We have an appt with our builder this week to finalise a few things so hopefully we'll book our colour consultation and get things moving. The waiting is killing me!!!!!! Re: Our Topaz in 2010 13Jan 20, 2010 12:39 am Hi, We are building with Hallmark as well. Slightly modified Flair 201 on a 500 sqmtr block. Just waiting for the council approval. Hallmark said we might start 2nd week of Feb but bank wants next week. Surprised your covenant took so long. We got ours back in 3 days. I was shocked. Re: Our Topaz in 2010 14Jan 20, 2010 10:55 am Hi, We have two 405m2 blocks in Brisbane and are wanting to build two single level homes to keep and rent out for investment. The are both 10 metres wide blocks. I have spoken so far with Dixon (Tamawood), Hallmark, Fresh Homes and Pantha Homes, currently I am leaning towards Hallmark. I would love to hear any comments you have (good and bad) on Hallmark homes or any of the other builders I have mentioned. Many Thanks!! Mark. Re: Our Topaz in 2010 15Feb 05, 2010 10:18 am Hello ritat 3 days only for covenant approval thats great. Which estate are you building in? Mine got rejected saying that my front setback does not comply with their plans. We applied for a relaxation with the council and have been approved but our developer wont agree. Re: Our Topaz in 2010 16Feb 05, 2010 11:48 am OMG 2pais!!! That's awful!!! I'm majorly stressing now about us (we STILL haven't submitted our covenant approvals) I am definetely doing it on Monday. We too are applying for a relaxation through Council (front relaxation though). I think they are becoming VERY stringent with their rules now because I had to send an email with the colour of my brick for approval as it wasn't on the colour pallett (they now have a display of distinct brick colours to be used which is located on a wall outside the new land office). Luckily the lady I emailed at the WLDRC was soooo lovely and she said it's not a problem for us to use that brick. What are you going to do now??? DH and I are relying heavily on being approved so we can get the "package" they offer. It's the only reason we decided to build in WL!! Re: Our Topaz in 2010 17Feb 07, 2010 9:40 am Thanks for your concern n&n02 Well i am definetly not building without covenant approval. We are currently negotiating with the developer hoping to hear from them by next week or so. Keeping fingers crossed. If all else fails the only option left is to move the house back which means we will lose a bit of our backyard and also the money spent on council relaxation. The builder will do this for no extra cost. All the best with your submission on Monday. Can i ask did u give any reason why you want to move the house forward? Re: Our Topaz in 2010 18Feb 08, 2010 8:18 am Hey 2Pais The reason we decided to move our house forward was for the same reason – to give more space in our backyard. As is, with the house brought forward, we still only have 4m to the back fence (according to covenant 2m is the minimum). DH has checked (and double checked) the guidelines. He seems to think we are in the boundary allowance from developer with the house brought forward. 5.5m setback to garage and 5.0m setback to living areas. Hmmmm, I think I will submit as is and keep our fingers crossed!! Sheesh, as if we don’t have enough stress with building than to worry about all this!! Re: Our Topaz in 2010 20Feb 17, 2010 12:55 pm Yay, that's awesome 2pais - great news!!! Did they let you keep your front setbacks as is or did you have to change them??? I'm still waiting on Covenant Approval... But on another note, we are FINALLY receiving our Building Contracts tomorrow. So once we sign them we can FINALLY go to Council. We hope to start early to mid April I would think. How long did your council approval take??? Keep us posted on your start date - so exciting!!
