Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 19, 2009 10:14 pm My partner and I are about to commence building in Point Cook. We have selected a small double story by F0rmula H0mes. Our land settled a couple of weeks ago and our unconditional approval for finance on the build was received this past week. So its full steam ahead. We have had our tender, colour appointment and contract signing over the past few months. Im kicking off the thread with some pictures of our floor plan for the house. Ill slowly add more pics and our colour selections. Our build will hopefully be starting late Jan early Feb 2010. So enjoy the updates and journey with us. For the two of us it is just right! The block size is 525m2 so we will be able to have a big backyard sort of. This was also one of our requirements but the only way to achieve it was to go for the double story because most blocks are small and once a single story is on it most of the backyard is gone. The bricks are Boral Mist. A lot lighter in the flesh. We have gone for the woodland grey for windows, facias and gutters. The lighter colour sample whos name I cant remember is for our fibro sheeting on the upper lever, hopefully will blend with the bricks. Also out roof tiles (not pictured) are barramundi colour in the tudor profile. http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae201/boiselfish/GetAttachment-1aspx.jpg The tiles and carpet come up lighter in the pic. The tiles are 450mm x 450mm and are gloss porcelain. The carpet is a very dark grey. http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae201/boiselfish/GetAttachmentaspx.jpg Any comments on these selections? We have been trying to find houses using the same bricks as ours... Boral MIst, to get an idea of it in a full size house not just a wall at the display centre. So far we cant seem to find anything anywhere... Even Boral didn't have a list of any houses close by for us to see either. So anyone out there have this brick and able to show a few pics of their house we would greatly appreciate it. We are having second brick thoughts and at this stage its not good as its almost time to start! NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS! Hey there Kupsx250, Good to see a neighbour! We brought in Stage 1b, so our land titled in November. We were originally told it would title September, so it was only two months late. Stage 2 looks complete so Id say its up to the titles office now. Just give it a few more weeks because of the xmas break. SO your going with NBG I read in another thread. What lot number are you and floor plan have you chosen? Hope you will be making your own thread so we can watch your progress. Chris & Tak. NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS! Mostly all good. Not long to go now. Still waiting for the banks letter of authority to commence for the builder to get a site start date but this should be here late this week or early next week. I have been our job has already progressed to ordering which is good progress. NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS! Double story gives you heaps of yard space How exciting, bet you cant wait to start! ps. Just a tip, remove the address details etc... gives all the information to the 'wrong' people snooping these threads looking for easy targets for building materials etc! Re: Our Villa 24 by Formula Homes, Karinya - Point Cook 12Jan 06, 2010 2:08 pm Oh I quietly started the thread. There isnt too much to say atm. I know all about the freaks who want to stalk me, I just havent had a chance to crop my pics and re-upload. Actually its called lazy. The backyard was something we wanted and with most single story houses taking up the WHOLE block (actually some doubles do too but they are rich people!) we decided on a smaller double. Im not one for gardening and the likes but im really looking forward to it! NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS! I was also looking at building a double storey to have a larger backyard, but decided against it as I could not get this house that I built out of my mind and compared it to everything My backyard is 12 X 19mtrs and is more than enough as there is a pergola to go up to the side of the house for entertaining. I too am in Point Cook, Lincoln Heath Estate which is about 7 years old now, where is Carinya Estate? Hope you have a great build Re: Our Villa 24 by Formula Homes, Karinya - Point Cook 14Jan 07, 2010 10:19 am Tillie Nice colour choices you have made. I haven't even added out bench top and cupboards colour yet only the externals so you have reminded me I have more to do! Karinya is on the corner os Dunnings and Hacketts very close to the town centre which is great. My friend just built in Lincoln Heath. Their house finished about 3 months ago now. We selected tiles to 2000mm high in the bathroom and ensuite and the tiles are 200m x 200mm gloss white! I love white. However the floor is the black colour tile (pictured above with the carpet selection) selected by my other half that had to be! Big contrast but hopefully one that will be good. Good idea going for the 2-story option. I'm afraid that as I'm on the other side of the country we don't have that brick option handy (it's cream cream and more cream over here - none of the brown / tan colours that seem to be popular east side), so I can't help you with finding a house built with it. BUT! I would suggest that you use Google Street View to take a virtual tour around any new estates in your area - chances are you'll find a place with bricks of that colour Dark carpet is a good idea to cover stains, but I would imagine that continuing the dark theme with the tiles might make some of your tiled areas look smaller than they actually are. Light tiles will help to make the area look bigger, and I can imagine that this would be especially useful for a house where space is at a premium Re: Our Villa 24 by Formula Homes, Karinya - Point Cook 20Jan 09, 2010 1:23 pm Hey Rowena, Thanks for the comments. We have checked out your thread before also and are eager to watch/hear of your build with NBG. Your design is going to be great on your corner block! Hey Vundaful! Thanks for the feedback! Re the bricks it sees no one has used them in any new areas of melbourne at all! Boral (the brick company) has advised me of a few addresses to check out and they are all inner suburban areas where its been a knock down re build. So its only a handful to look at if that. I do agree with the darker tiles however I've had lighter before and find them so hard to keep clean with light grout also I thought just go for dar so it looks clean.
