(with pi 86Mar 02, 2010 7:17 pm Terrible that people would steal windows! Double glazed windows...[sigh] Love them to bits. Single glazed windows in an old house, I can understand. Single glazed windows for new builds...I don't understand why new houses are being built with single glazed windows especially with the horrible ever changing weather here in MEL! We thought of having double glazed windows for our house but have shelved it for the time being cos' it would've been too expensive with the builder's markup and the fact that we have a trillion windows in the house. We'll see how we fair with the single glazed windows and if we need to replace some of the windows (especially the road facing windows), we'll do it later. I reckon all volume builders should follow the lead of Burb@nk and do their houses with double glazed windows. Why do they advise the builder to begin if they clearly are not ready to hand over the money!!! With a public holiday on Monday not helping it seems the first progress payment will be a few days late. Im sure the builder will be ok with it but why does the bank need to mess around like this? We were charged $80 per progress payment plus extra $80 for each security assessment (if they are sending someone to check for the completion of each stages). Re: Our Villa 24 @ Karinya, Point Cook - SLABBED!! (with pi 92Mar 06, 2010 8:48 pm Banks...they can be annoying can't they. We were also late in our first progress payment last year. Got a bit of scolding from the builder's admin dept who said that they shouldn't have started work on our site! Turned out that the bank for some reason had sat on their butts and didn't do the paperwork for both finalising the loan and submitting the applications for the FHOG and boost for weeks! Of course the builder charged us interest for each day we were late and our bank said that they would pay for the interest penalty. Phew! So rude of me. We don't have to pay extra for progress payments if we request them over th phone and they are direct deposit. For cheques there was a hefty fee. We are with wpac. And today I noticed they had made our first payment, on time it seems which is good. They also had a base stage inspection and will do two others as well I'm just not sure when. Our block is 35m's deep so based on that and splitting the cost with our neighbours we're only looking at just over $2,000 Our house thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=18335 Re: Our Villa 24 @ Karinya, Point Cook - SLABBED!!
