Landscaping no 545Jun 07, 2011 8:27 pm Great to see that you guys are finally in. Even better to see that you guys are actually doing something about your yard. There's 2 houses that I HATE HATE HATE in the street. The corner double story where they've put the big mound of rock where their driveway is suppose to go and instead park on the road or across the nature strip and then the house that has the red rocks/red mulch as their front yard. I always get stones flicked up on my car because of them 2 houses. So much for covenants and having to landscape within 3 months. We've been in for 9 months and there were houses completed before us that haven't even touched their front yards. Anywayz, that's enough of a rant. Yours looks great so good work. If things don't change by the end of the month I'll be doing something about the above. We are building the same house as you, Villa 24. I am a little concerned now after reading your thread and all the delays that you have encountered. Is there anything you would advise me of at this point in time??? anything will be great Re: Our Villa 24 @ Karinya, Point Cook. DONE! Is there anything you would advise me of at this point in time??? anything will be great Oh well my advise; Call Formula Homes. There phone is no longer being answered. There is an answering service telling you to call some accountant firm. More likely administrators. I would under no circumstances continue with them if you do get a contract. I'm so sorry. If yo have paid your deposit of $1500 consider it lost and start over. Please let me know how you go. Good luck. NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS! Some of our older readers/posters will know our builder Formula Homes was terrible, slow and extremly irritating. Thankfully for us the went belly up after our hand over but this left a maintenance list to be completed by some great unknown. Finally yesterday I was able to arrange our 3 month inspection, although 9 months after handover, with a company whom shall not be named here but I'm sure some peole will know which one, as they brought out all of FH's contracts and luckily for us we were part of it! So we are very much looking forward to having our major concern fixed, the staircase! It's squeaking is becoming unbearable and not something we wanted to fix out of our own pocket. Seems we have been lucky all round. Also I'd like to bang on about solar power! If you don't have it you should. We have had two bills so far, both in credit! We only have a 1.5kwh system and it's well worth it, we took up origins monthly payment plan and its the best thing we did. As well as solar we got origin to install a split system in our down stairs long room on the same monthly payment plan as it seems the evap cooler really is only useful up stairs, so any one with a double story and evap upstairs, beware. So if you haven't check out our landscaping thread, go look! I'm busting at the bit for our bamboo to shoot so I can snap some pics to share. NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS! It's really been such a long drawn out process for you Have to agree on the solar panels! They are awesome! We have a slightly bigger system and although the upfront cost was a big one, they are surely paying themselves off Re: Our Villa 24 @ Karinya, Point Cook. 3mth Maint. 6mth lat 559Aug 29, 2016 2:46 pm Hi, I saw this post on the forum now. i am building my house and i have choose Boral Mist Bricks as well. The color was good until my builder washed the bricks with Acid. Now the bricks looks completely of different color and bit dark. Though the bricks are still wet. but i want to know that does it happened same with your bricks and how they are now. Thanks, Re: Our Villa 24 @ Karinya, Point Cook. 3mth Maint. 6mth lat 560Aug 30, 2016 1:27 pm Hey mudassar! Glad such an old blog could help! I must agree some of the sandy color texture did come off the brick after the wash. But it still retains the color we hoped for which is a light grey I guess. Over the years the color has stayed the same with no further change even with weathering. You should rest assured that the bricks will still look great and very different from most everyone else's red, brown or yellow! Check out our landscaping thread that has other photos of our house from a couple of years after we moved in so you can compare the color difference in the bricks.
