Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 19, 2009 6:18 am Just wondering if anyone might know about the nitty-gritty installation details for a Colorbond roof. The brickies have just finished and our SS says the roof will go on next week. He's mentioned the guttering and fascia will get installed before the roof itself and this seems counter-intuitive to me and I was so frazzled at the time of talking to him I didn't think to ask!! If anyone knows what's done and when -- I'd really appreciate the details pls. Also, do the panels get craned into place? And how long did your Colorbond roof take to install? Re: Colorbond Roof - What goes where and when? 2Dec 19, 2009 7:15 am Hi Pixelated, I know it sounds strange - but gutters and fascia do go on before the actual roofing sheets themselves. The panels are quite light - so just man/person power to lift them up. The roof took 1 day to install - it's much quicker than tiles. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Colorbond Roof - What goes where and when? 4Dec 19, 2009 7:57 am Hey Pix Ours took a couple of days for the top roof. The bottom roof about 3 weeks later took another day. And yet it's still not 100% done but I think that's our design and the slack roofers (according to our SS). Our house is the first build with the facade so it's all a bit trial and error! Joy! It really is quite quick though - and definitely faster than tiles! Also we got an Anticon blanket as well which added a bit of time too. If you think about it, the roofing has to overlap the spouting so that water runs off properly ....so it makes sense to put the spouting on first, rather than try to attach it under the edge of the roof material. Makes sense to me anyway, but I know nothing. Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10224 You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 18578 Hi all, Our boundary perimeter fences need replacing (3 sides). From everyone's experience, what would you install? Timber lapped and capped OR colorbond? Thank you. 0 2890 |
