Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 18, 2009 11:58 am I've been getting roofing quotes latelly and the cheapest one (by $2,000) was by a small roofing company using Bristile tiles. After reading their terms and conditions I am having second thoughts. Do you think the following standards are the norm in the roofing industry? All plumbing, valley irons, gutters, flashing, etc are to be completed and/or in position before commencement of tiling and air vent pipes, chimneys etc are to be completed before roof is finally ridged. The seller will not be responsible for unintentional damage to ceilings, fibre cement linings and gutters occurring as the result and in the course of carrying out the contract if the ceilings or with the seller linings installed before tiling is completed. When pre-painted or similar gutters are used, the purchaser is to arrange protection from damage by battens or ladders. The purchaser to provide tarpaulins to any in tiled areas. The seller will supply and fix sarking as specified and to the requirements of the manufacturer but no responsibility will be accepted for any noise problems due to the movement of material concerned. When the work is substantially and reasonably fit for use such that the roof is watertight and such as to enable other trades to proceed to complete their works, the customer acknowledges and agrees that Terracotta Roofing will give him a final account which must be paid in full (that is, no set off or reduction) by cash or bank cheque within seven days. Terracotta roofing acknowledges a responsibility to fix any defective or incomplete parts of the works within three months of substantial completion. However, any problems which require urgent work without which damage will be caused will be fixed straight away. Re: ROOFING terms and conditions. Is this the norm???? 3Dec 21, 2009 1:23 pm I would expect any tradie who damages another trades work to cover the cost to fix it, and that includes the roof tiler damaging gutters. Ceilings, etc won't be in so they won't be a problem. Personally if it was me, I would give them the order, make sure they take care on site, and if something is damaged, hold part of their payment to fix it. Any damage they make to gutters won't be amounting to much at all - well not enough to have a major fight over Not sure about the noise with the sarking - as long as they install it as per manufacturer's recommendations then all should be ok.
