Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 17, 2009 10:36 pm Hi everyone!!! Just a question... I'm a bit confused. Our cabinets are in but I've got no floor tiles yet. Is that normal???? Some people thought I'd have a floor before cabinets and that they would go over the tiles. Is that the way it goes??? Thanks Re: Kitchen before tiles???? 2Dec 17, 2009 10:44 pm Nope. Tiles are usually done after cabinetry. It's easier to disguise floors that aren't quite level and to give a neat finish in dishwasher spaces etc, and around the base of your cabinets. Re: Kitchen before tiles???? 4Dec 18, 2009 10:29 am We had to find out this too. Tiles are done after kitchen cabinets are installed. We are raising the kitchen bench heights and had to take the thickness of the tiles into consideration because when the tiles are in the cabinets are less that thickness. We had to add it the new bench heights. I can't wait to see my new kitchen!! Life is; then you tell yourself a story. Re: Kitchen before tiles???? 5Dec 18, 2009 11:24 am yeah, my cabinets were in about 6 weeks before the tiles went down.
