Hey Somewoman, it's looking good. Those downlights look really good.
I thought I had read in another post somewhere that you were planning to do polished concrete floors. Did I misread?

I'm so pleased for you that things are full steam ahead again...about time! Well done for making a formal complaint in writing and getting them off their butts. Fingers crossed your tiler is there soon. A quick question, with your tree on the nature strip have you needed to get council approval for that to be relocated/replaced or did a simple phone call suffice? Also, those slimline powerpoints - is that the finished look? We just noticed the other day we have them too. I think they are really ugly, but never actually knew what we were getting...I thought a powerpoint was a powerpoint. DH seems to think a face place will be put over them to give them a nicer look. For all light switches we have the Saturn switches so it will be a real disappointment for us if that is what they look like in the end. Love the look of your facade...and yes, when you can see that front door, it is absolutely gorgeous. I love it!! =) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We haven't done anything about the tree yet - we really need to get onto that. We've been waiting for a handover date so that we can organise a concreter to deal with the crossover. I'm hoping that they can deal with all the council applications Will let you know as soon as I do! I asked the painters today if they often work for my builder, and they said that they have a couple of times, but this job was only awarded to them two weeks ago (after out letter as the painter that was scheduled to do it couldn't get to it in time!! So yes - the letter worked wonders. REALLY hoping to see the tiler soon! Loving your build - it's just awesome! Re: Longridge Madison - WARNING!! full frontal 388May 25, 2010 12:30 am ARGH!! 1000 posts and I used it on a thread not my own... Happy 1001 posts to me! I spend too much time here Re: Longridge Madison - WARNING!! full frontal 389May 25, 2010 1:06 am Good to hear that your letter has helped! WOOHOO!!!! Pity they couldnt get there act into gear sooner but great that you have progress and hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel!!! Hahahahaha never.... but it is soooo addictive Re: Longridge Madison - WARNING!! full frontal 390May 25, 2010 2:09 pm Waterproofing of the wet areas is happening today. Yay! Hopefully means the tiler will be arriving soon. Even the painters seem to be getting excited about the tiler arriving soon (they can't finish until the tiler has). Re: Longridge Madison - WARNING!! full frontal 391May 25, 2010 2:21 pm Congrats Somewoman on your posts. You've been a big support for people on H1 Handover February 2011 Happy with our home Re: Longridge Madison - waterproofing 392May 25, 2010 4:07 pm We have had quite a bit of action at the house today. The first coat of paint went on the internal doors, some of the skirtings and architraves, etc. And (as hubby mentioned in his earlier post) the waterproofing!! The plumber is also in the house RIGHT NOW doing some plumberish shtuff, mainly involving ripping the cladding from the bath hob so as to free the spout and retractable shower hoses from their prison inside the wall cavity. The poor guy is absolutely covered in dust from scrambling around under the bath trying to cut a hole in the wall to free the hoses that his OWN colleague had perfect access to WHEN I TALKED TO HIM THE DAY THE BATH WAS INSTALLED!! FTR, I told him BEFORE the bath was even inside the house that the hoses were trapped in that wall, and he told me that it was someone else's job to extract them, and don't worry it would be done (then the carpenter said the same thing when I told him that the hoses were locked up in that wall). Apparently the plumber who installed the bath is now claiming that he knew nothing of the location of the hoses. I TOLD YOU, DUDE!! I REALLY, REALLY DID! ok - wanna-bang-head-on-brick-wall moment for the day is over. And considering the other wanna-bang-head-on-brick-wall moments with this build, this one was rather minor Now for the piccies!! waterproofing in progress Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ waterproofed main bathroom shower Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ensuite shower Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ drain Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And now some updated snaps of my beautiful white and bright house =) roof window and surrounds in the master bedroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ hallway looking towards kitchen/dining/lounge Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ lounge looking towards kitchen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Longridge Madison - waterproofing 393May 25, 2010 5:53 pm Thanks for posting that pic re the slimline powerpoint. Feel so much more relieved now. That's more the look we would be after. The painting in your house is coming along brilliantly. The brightness is so refreshing. Good to see waterproofing taking place at the moment. I love your shower niche. I asked my builder about having them and his reply "we don't do them because their subject to leaking", interpreted by me as "we're too lazy and can't be bothered do them and we can't trust our tilers to genuinely waterproof the showers'. That's what I mean by parochial. They just won't do anything out of the ordinary. Is that a bad thing?!!!!! well you can't have 'em - they're MINE!! I agree - they are totally awesome =) Re: Longridge Madison - waterproofing 397May 25, 2010 9:24 pm TamDaz Thanks for posting that pic re the slimline powerpoint. Feel so much more relieved now. The slimlines looks REALLY good. I think you'll be happy =) We also have the saturn switches for the lights and visible power points in the main living area and kitchen, but slimlines anywhere that won't be "on display". There's standard points behind the appliances like the oven, rangehoods and things. Stuff that you can't get to without moving something not meant to be moved Re: Longridge Madison - waterproofing 398May 25, 2010 9:27 pm robinred55 Oh Somewoman, it's looking wonderful. That's what I mean by parochial. They just won't do anything out of the ordinary. Ours didn't even flinch about doing the niche. I am a little disappointed with it, though. They're very slim. They're more like display niches where you might hang a picture frame rather than something useful to stick your shampoo bottles on. We'll just have to stick to thin shampoo bottles!! Rather disappointing that your builder nixxed it. They're really useful when done properly! Your house will rock, at any rate =) Re: Longridge Madison - waterproofing 400May 25, 2010 10:18 pm robinred55 Oh Somewoman, it's looking wonderful. I love your shower niche. We asked for them too and got the same response, even when we said we would waive any responsibility on the builder if they leaked in the future. Your house is looking good somewoman. I really wanted the Saturn power points/switches, but they were way too expensive for my budget. |
