Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 10, 2009 10:40 pm Hi we have an old asbestos home to be demolished. Can anyone recommend a company in the Perth area. (Vic park) Any company's to stay away from? We are only weeks away from hiring a company so any hints or pitfalls of the demolition process would be much appreciated. Thanks Re: Demolitions in Perth - Recommendations please 2Dec 12, 2009 2:25 pm I will be doing a demo soon in the inner metro area (3x1 brick and fibro with 2 sheds, asbestos and some small vegetation/trees) and have had quotes from the following companies: Groundworks Demolition Jags Demolition Swift Demolition (linked to Jag so they quoted me even though I didn't ask) Demolition Works Statewide Demolition Vinsan Contracting/Demolition I would probably approach them in that order. Groundworks seem the most organised and 'on the ball', and among the best prices as well. The quotes were $13K-$18K, and that is not including the big landfill levy increase coming on January 1. All except Groundworks are all saying "add 20% for the levy". Groundworks actually quoted a price including the levy and told me the levy increase equates to an additional $200/truck load, and we need 10 truck loads, so that's +$2K... Wish I'd been able to book this in a month ago, cos it would have saved me $2K!! [edit] - make sure you mention to them (and mark) anything that you want to keep (trees, shed, bore etc) as otherwise they will take the lot. Also you will need to arrange cancellation of the services accounts, and pay for disconnections, approx prices as follows: Disconnection of Sewer - $180 OR Disconnection of Septic - $510 Disconnection of Electricity Meter - $330 Septic Tank Removal Certification - $145 Disconnection of Gas - $300.00 Starts to add up doesn't it....
