Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 10, 2009 8:01 pm Has anyone else been having problems with PGH bricks in the Alfresco range (Chocolatto, Espresso or Vino)? We are part way through construction of our new home and many of the Vino bricks we selected have had the dark colour on the front of the brick chip off which exposes a bright orange colour underneath. It looks terrible on the fnished wall and I'm not sure what we can do to fix it. Re: Chipped PGH Bricks 2Dec 10, 2009 8:09 pm A lot of the new style bricks chip, especially during the cleaning process 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' There are a few other brick threads similar re: quality of bricks. Re: Chipped PGH Bricks 4Dec 11, 2009 10:44 am This chipping depending on the qty shouldnt happen. I mean some chipping is expected, at most five percent (ie one in 20 bricks) I used this brick on my house. I did recieve a lot of chip bricks however I spoke to the rep andi got replacement bricks. I ended up using the chips bricks on my rendered sections so i reduced my costs. Do you have a photo?? If they are excess PGH can repair the brick work. You builder should be abel to resolve it with them. In the end people will blame each other. The truth is they are all at fault. PGH, (PGH should have been informed before work was started) however probably should have sent out bricks in first place. You need to put your pics into 'photobucket' first for it to work. Re: Chipped PGH Bricks 7Dec 12, 2009 6:47 pm Here is the picture of the chipped bricks. Our entire house is covered like this Re: Chipped PGH Bricks 8Dec 12, 2009 9:19 pm Wow that is above and beyond what you would expect! When they delivered our bricks they dropped two pallets on the road! I made sure to ring and complain to the SS and PGH about the number of exessively chipped bricks. The PGH rep agreed to send out an extra two pallets to cover chips. My SS made sure the brickies new that they could be more picky with the bricks. You should have seen our skip, it was almost full with chipped bricks. They ended up having to send out another pallet of bricks! But the brick work looks brilliant I'd ring PGH and see if you can get a rep to come out and have a look! Re: Chipped PGH Bricks 9Dec 13, 2009 6:30 pm Our builder decided he would attempt to make the chips less obvious by colouring them in with a black permanent marker. Not happy Re: Chipped PGH Bricks 10Dec 13, 2009 6:37 pm FirstHome27 Our builder decided he would attempt to make the chips less obvious by colouring them in with a black permanent marker. Not happy That' shocking! I wouldn't be happy either. Re: Chipped PGH Bricks 11Dec 19, 2009 4:42 pm We have had the PGH state rep have a look at the chipped bricks on our house. He concluded it looked the same as every other house in that brick and refused to do anything for us. Building Standards; Getting It Right!
