Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 08, 2009 4:05 pm Hi everyone, We are building our first house, as much as it is exciting it is also equally stressful. At this stage selection is going on, and this this what we have chosen but not yet final, will be finalized on Thursday at the builders interview: Roof - Colorbond Evening haze Gutter/Facia - Woodland Grey Brick - Grange from Austral Window - Merino from A & L 2 Single Garage door - Evening haze roller door All the external walls will be in brick form (I mean no rendering). Also, we will not have any dutch gable on the roof. What do you think of this external selection that we have chosen? Re: What do you think of this combo? 2Dec 08, 2009 4:11 pm I think it sounds, and will look!! just fine But its not up to me tho. What do *you* think of your choices? viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: What do you think of this combo? 4Dec 08, 2009 4:22 pm I think will look good, but as said before - are you happy? Getting a mock up of your facade with the colours often helps and having seen colours in real life is good too. Just wondering where the woodland grey ties in? What colour is the front door? I am sure you will get lots of advice from H1 - try not to get too confused Good luck Re: What do you think of this combo? 5Dec 08, 2009 5:36 pm Thanks for ur quick reply. I am happy with what we have selected but just a bit confused on the gutter and fascia color, im thinking of changing it with a brown tone like jasper or loft, but my hubby doesn't know how will it look, since we have not seen a lot of houses around with that colour. As what you've said the woodland grey will not blend with anything because every colour has a touch of brown, our main door will also be in evening haze. Trying to attache pic of grange but it says "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached." Link is http://www.australbricks.com.au/Product ... /Urban-One. Again Thanks. Re: What do you think of this combo? 6Dec 08, 2009 5:39 pm I think the Woodland Grey for fascia and guttering may be too heavy for the Evening Haze roof. Perhaps you could do the fascia in the Evening Haze and the guttering in Woodland Grey so it's not so heavy? I personally wouldn't use Evening Haze with the Primrose windows. It might make your windows look very, very yellow as opposed to creamy. We have Evening Haze for the garage door and the fascia and guttering, it sort of has a bit of a grey base not really a cream base. Our render colour is Self Destruct, not as yellow as the Primrose, but near the Evening Haze it looks really yellow. We will be changing the render eventually. Here is a pic of the Evening Haze. http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u353/joles_photo/2009-11-12_12-25-13_121120091387.jpg I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I think that Dune has a grey tone to it. When DH bought home some pictures of the guttering and fascia being put on I thought that they were the wrong colour But they are definitely Dune. Check out my thread if you like and see if you can see the grey. By the way... you've got a nice house and location... congratzzzzz. Re: What do you think of this combo? 10Dec 09, 2009 11:22 am It's hard. It does your head in eventually. But the thing with the colorbond colours is that they have definite tones to them.... that may change under sunlight. Evening Haze has a definite green/grey tinge. Will work well with Woodland Grey cos that is also green/grey, but darker. The Loft has definite eggplant tones in it..... the Ironstone has blue. So you have to be careful of introducing too many colours. I would stick with Woodland Grey with the Evening Haze roof, but maybe only for the guttering because it might be a really heavy for both the guttering and the fascia because the roof will be so light. Can you do Woodland Grey for the windows? That would tie it all in. External colours are really hard I think. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Nice house plan you've come up with. Thanks for the photos, the looks of light roof, gutter and fascia looks nice with grange brick. We'll discuss it later and will update you. Re: What do you think of this combo? 12Dec 09, 2009 11:32 am Nightshade, Thanks for that, like what i've said to jose, we'll discuss that option of having a light gutter and fascia, with the light roof. Initially we dont want to do it, because we want to diffrentiate the roof from the brick walls but after seeing two photos like that it looks nice, especially the other photo i've seen is with a grange brick, but with diff colour of roof. Re: What do you think of this combo? 13Dec 09, 2009 11:38 am Joles, We can do woodland grey as well in the window, its there in our discussion list... we both are inclined to go with woodland grey but up to now we are still doing the research and colour match making for the externals... It's so confusing..... Thanks for that, much appreciated. Hey all, Hoping for some inspiration for my bathroom laundry combo. The tiles are in good condition, as is the bathtub.
