Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 06, 2009 9:29 pm We have our tender presentation on Friday but I'm thinking about many things at the moment. Our "package" includes R1.5 wall insulation and R3.0 roof insulation. I don't know if this is just thermal insulation or acoustic and thermal insulation yet. I'll find out on Friday. But do you think it would be worthwhile to get upgraded to acoustic insulation if it is only thermal. Do you think we should upgrade to a higher R rating, we on the coast of NSW Newcastle region and will have some aircraft noise? I'm planning to do internal walls insulation ourselves if EB allow before plasterboard goes up and will use acoustic insulation for that. I'm hoping they will allow as I've noticed in people's blogs and threads the SS has allowed in several instances. Re: Insulation upgrade 2Dec 06, 2009 10:11 pm I am not sure about the R values or anything for insulation, however when we did our contract we put a clause in allowing us to go on-site to put our own cables in and do our own insulation to the media room. This prevented any hassles later as it was all agreed pre-construction. Maybe putting something in your contract will ensure no hassles later in case you don't get a supervisor who is accommodating. Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed. Looks like… 0 11269 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6191 |
