We chose an Austral brick colour that is not as dark as Homestead Tan, but still a darker brown brick. It's Homestead Blackwood, which was not at the display when we visited, as it was a newer brick. Our choice was pretty much a spur of the moment decision. The catalogue shows it as a reddish brick, but looks different in real life. Might be worth checking out, if you like Homestead Tan. Re: Ready to go in Mernda. cut and fill..and new bricks! 316May 29, 2010 3:42 pm What a pain about your bricks m! It's not so much choosing a new brick, but making sure all your other colours/materials will go with the new option too. Best of luck! xo Re: Ready to go in Mernda. cut and fill..and new bricks! 317May 29, 2010 7:06 pm Great news about the site scrape good to hear. It is amazing how those little slopes can cause so much pain. We had the same & it cost us a fortune in site costs. When we saw the scrape & the fill & thickness of the slab in that are we could see what the $$$ was paying for. Bricks we also had to change ours due to Boral. It must cost them a fortune as we also went with Austral. Good luck choosing I hope you find one similar. Bricks are just such a big thing in a house that you want to get it right! Re: Ready to go in Mernda. cut and fill..and new bricks! 318May 29, 2010 10:39 pm Thanks Girls... Haven! Thank you! I did see those bricks, liked them and pointed them out to DH - guess what? too dark Actually as a matter of interest do yours have black markings in them as a feature? The sample were saw had big black markings.....but then another sample didn't.... My house and my rants.... - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26937 We are in!!!...and still unpacking. The sample were saw had big black markings.....but then another sample didn't.... That's bad luck about them being too dark. Yes, they do have quite small black markings throughout, but also, some have larger, bluish blotchy markings. It might be these markings that you mean? We were hoping that there would be more of the bluish tinges in our bricks, but it didn't work out that way. I'm glad we chose them, anyway! I like them!! and yes, I do mean those bigger blotchy ones - think that's what put DH off them... I really liked them, but anyhoo what to do. For some reason he's very into the bricks...more so than the rest of the place. Not sure he was actually round much when I picked the rest of the colours...was wondering the halls talking to colleagues...but the bricks Would love to see the blackwood on a larger scale Anyhoo....
