Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 28, 2013 8:01 pm Hi all, I'm actually building with MV but I believe the processes are all the same... I was just wondering exactly what happens at the tender appointment? I've just found out that I may not be able to go to the tender appointment, leaving hubby to go by himself, and he's not really in the know about any finer details. I'll definitely be going to the contract appt so thats not an issue. Theres a month in between the tender and contract appointments (so plenty of time for me to liase with them via email/phone if I needed to) - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Once the tender is signed you can not make any changes structurally so you need to be sure of your decisions. Depending on the tender presenter there can be a fair bit of pressure to sign. Once you sign, you pay the next deposit. Re: Help! Tender with Henley? 3Jun 28, 2013 9:03 pm Hi, with Henley, after you sign the tender, you can still make changes. but it will be as Post contract variation. the tender document that you sign will form part of your contract... it's better to have the tender as close as you want the house to be. you can bring the tender docs home and sign at your own time. Henley will also send you the tender docs (i think via email) before your tender appointment. at your tender appointment, the tender presenter will talk you through all your selection, sometimes the tender presenter will point out what can be improved from your selection, so it's best if you can attend. Re: Help! Tender with Henley? 4Jun 28, 2013 9:55 pm Thanks!! Ari I'm most definitely going to try and work around it, I definitely WANT to be there for every second of it, it's just there's been a big poostorm at work and I might not be able to have any time off for the next few months. Giant spanner in the works when you're about to build! Thanks for the info mtz08, if they give me a copy before hand I'm fairly confident I can send hubby along with precise instructions lol. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. My hubby didn't come but he doesn't really care on those nitty gritty things. Where as I have pretty much planned it all. During my tender I picked up a few errors and they were noted. Also the guy from Henley finalized my electrical plan and pointed out a few switches and points that I had missed that I now believe we're a necessity. So like I said whoever is putting the most input into the house should really be there. If its a joint decision on things then you should both be there. I left the meeting feeling a big weight lifted off my shoulders. Good luck. Re: Help! Tender with Henley? 6Jul 01, 2013 12:26 pm Even when you think you now have the paperwork sorted, triple check and quadruple check the options and inclusions. Ours had slight changes, no biggy although some cupboards would have ended up with different handles and doors would have been wrong.
