Re: Dollarz House...photos pre-Monday as promised. p.14 282Nov 21, 2010 10:10 pm Welcome back Dollar and a belated Happy 30th Birthday!!! (welcome to the 30's ) Glad you had a great trip. I went to Egypt in 1999 (just before Christmas - was a cheap holiday due to the Millennium bug, living in England at time) I remember the dust and the car horns what an amazing place. Your pics are great Hope you brought back some great souvenirs for the house Re: Dollarz House...photos pre-Monday as promised. p.14 283Nov 22, 2010 9:23 am The car horns, dirt and cigarette smoke are still all there Rowena but perhaps louder and with a growth in population. I did get a few really nice papyrus to frame. Yet to be done. I also got a couple of cushion covers. 2 with camels on them and another "tree of life" which is a larger cushion that could be used for the floor. Yet to find an insert for it. Spotlight didn't have the size. Re: Dollarz House...photos pre-Monday as promised. p.14 284Nov 22, 2010 9:41 am LOVED the ballon pic. what am amazing experience, yay for you! We have the typical colourbond side fences that separate our block to the neighbour's blocks. I am in need of some thoughts, advice, any ideas etc that may help in making a final decision. The question/s is.....there is a particular type of styled fence I want however because of the nature of the fence it will need to be custom built and the materials used will cost a significant amount more than say a colourbond fence. Questions.... Do we just get a colourbond fence to match the garage? Won't break the pocket/bank as much. Do we get a fence that I initially wanted that will be about 1/3 of the price of custom fence-however now thinking if we don't go for the custom fence I think I'd rather go for the colourbond one. Custom fence-is there a way you justify the amount spent on a fence?....for example I want a Thermomix but at $2K we have alot of other significantly more important things to worry about. If I had the money I'd buy one but the fence could cost a number of thermomixes. I've just spent $1k on car tyres. Can you put a price on things? Does a fence add any significant value to a house? Timber compared to colourbond compared to brick etc. Any help much appreciated. Re: Dollarz House...fence help. 289Jan 04, 2011 8:52 am I dont think a side fence adds value to a property...? We didn't want to spend a fortune on the side fences, one is 2m, the other is 1.4m. We have timber boundary fences, but rather than matching those we went to Bunnings, spent $15 I think it was... per sheet of colourbond fencing panels, in a colour that matches our render, and made a timber frame. Sooooooooooooo much cheaper than the $600 that our fencer quoted for each side to do gates! We have a gate on one side, and it's solid on the other. It's temporary until we figure exactly what we'll do, and have the money aside for it. It keeps our yard secure, and looks good along side the house. Re: Dollarz House...fence help. 290Jan 04, 2011 11:42 am Thanks Erin. I think all up ours is about 10m in fencing required in total. I think we might just match the fence to the garage colour and go from there. Re: Dollarz House...fence help. 291Jan 04, 2011 1:11 pm I'm with Erin on this one-at our last place we spent quite a bit on a brick wing fence with double gates (got it done with the house build)-that side of the house had nearly 11m to span...but later on when we sold it didn't add any value to the property (actually the new owners knocked it down and put a second garage there anyway!) I guess in hines sight we won't be moving anywhere for some time, many years down the track. I have given it much thought and can't justify the money for something I won't even be able to admire unless I sit out the front. So, I think we may go for colourbond or something similar. BTW Erin we started the path yesterday and I love the progress so far. I think it looks fabulous. DP got burnt to the max despite me ensuring to ask if he had sunscreen on which he assured me he had. He did, but not in the spots he got burnt. I'll post photos this week. We'll probably also be erecting the letterbox soon as well. Something I love to bits and in fact would want to take it with me if ever we were to leave. Ha. We are waiting on some planter boxes to be finished being made and then will continue with the front and start planting stuff. I'm very excited about the front garden! Anyone know where to get some decent looking garden sculptures that don't cost an arm and a leg. Something out of granite/stone and not old fashioned with the statues of angels, kids, you know what I mean. Something contemporary. Re: Dollarz House...feature wall x1 293Apr 25, 2011 7:04 pm So it's been a long time coming. Almost a year for a feature wall but at last it did happen! Thanks to my mother who chose the colour These are for you Flaggie! I've decided against Plantain for the spare room. Really not sure what colour it will be but maybe an earthy tone of some sort. Thanks Hun Wall looks fabulous!!! Nice work! I like your mirror... Where did you get that from? Re: Dollarz House...feature wall x1 299Apr 27, 2011 8:16 pm About time hey Flaggie. The mirror I love too. I got it from good old Ikea-on special (about $40 at most). It's quite big and heavy and the mirror sits flush with the wall while the rattan sits on the outside like a 3D effect. 1. Roof cleaning and paint - which colour do you recommend?
