How much do I need to put aside... and I know it all depends on the size (costs are in sq mtrs)... I just need a ballpark figure. Am I up for $5,000 or $10,000? I transferred paving allowance in the alfresco to the front driveway and portico as the (seems to be) standard 6 meters is not enough. But I have still got 32 x 4 meters wide meters to cost myself on the driveway to the rear block. Plain concrete? Stamped? Stencilled? Exposed aggregate? Cost per square metre varies between types. It varies a bit depending on location too. From memory, we paid about $100 per m2 for exposed agg. Our driveway just cost us a shade under $20k (plain black concrete) - and that was only for the section out the front of the property - the actual driveway from the road down is going to be another $8k-ish (for bitumen 40m by 4m) Some things are worth waiting for. Your question needs more details eg: What sort of driveway do you want, how big, location etc etc We may be able to help you a bit more knowing these details. In my area: Exposed agg - $70-$75 per m2 Coloured concrete - $55-$80 per m2 My only main peice of advice would be to go as WIDE as possible with your driveway, there is nothing worse that parking on someones driveway and there isn't enough room either side of you to get out without stepping on the garden/dirt. This common drive will access all three properties' garages and as such will be bitumen. The actual parking area out the front of our home is massive and is black concrete.
