Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Paulding Construction collapse 2Dec 05, 2009 7:31 pm Hello there, I'm really glad I found this forum. My home has been abandoned by Paulding, along with about 90 others I hear. I had trouble with them from the very beginning so this is almost funny - if it weren't so devastating. I found out about their situation on the 1st and put my claim in with Vero on the 3rd. I hope we all come out ok from this. I'd be intersted to hear how other people are going. All the best, Jo Re: Paulding Construction collapse 3Dec 05, 2009 10:11 pm I am not with Paulding, but someone on my street is. I wish you all the best, such a terrible situation. This thread is about the collapse of Wincrest in Sydney. A few forumers were caught up, there may be some advice in there that may be of assistance. Here's the link to the Wincrest thread..... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=13255&hilit=wincrest And another on the Marshall Baker collapse..... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=8616&hilit=marshall+baker I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Paulding Construction collapse 4Dec 05, 2009 10:19 pm Good luck to you all building with them. I would rename the title of this thread - the company is actually called Paulding Homes... it is misleading and confusing as Paulding Constructions. Re: Paulding Construction collapse 5Dec 05, 2009 10:49 pm Salt&PepperMkII Good luck to you all building with them. I would rename the title of this thread - the company is actually called Paulding Homes... it is misleading and confusing as Paulding Constructions. You may need to check your facts S&P.... http://www.hotfrog.com.au/Companies/Pau ... structions Paulding Constructions is the company.... Paulding Homes is the name of the residential arm. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Paulding Construction collapse 6Dec 06, 2009 12:17 am Feel so bad for you guys. Wishing you all the best. Re: Paulding Construction collapse 7Dec 06, 2009 10:28 am Same and all the best to everyone including the Paulding staff who probably don't have a job leading up to christmas. They were second on our choice for builders, we feel we dodged a bullet....... Interestingly, there were constantly contacting us up to a few weeks ago. Has anyone seen any press on what the status is ? * Are we there yet ? Demolition has come and gone ! yippeeee..hang on that was months ago !! come on Mr Builder, dig a hole at least Finaly ! Hole Dug ! well done darren 20/06/2010. Slab is down ! Framing is complete 20/10/2010 we are progressing like a snail on heat - excited and determined but very very slow Steveo Re: Paulding Construction collapse 8Dec 06, 2009 7:42 pm Thank you for all the well wishes, and to joles for the links. Steveo, I haven't spoken with anyone who finished building with them so I'm biased but I'd say you definately dodged one just based on my experiences leading up to commencement date. The staff were not helpful. I even received an email from John Paulding himself apologising for the mess and promising things would be well looked after henceforth. Hmm. I actually spoke with them on the day they collapsed - so it was all very sudden. I'd be interested to hear how people feel who had finished dealings with Paulding. Jo Re: Paulding Construction collapse 9Dec 09, 2009 3:40 pm Hi there, My partner and I are also caught up in the liquidation, though we only found out today. Very disappointing as we are just about to get to lock up stage. And things seemed to be going fairly well until about a week ago when all building suddenly stopped. We are still waiting to hear back from the insurers as to what will happen next. Re: Paulding Construction collapse 11Dec 10, 2009 11:53 am Joeyr, very sorry to hear about that. I was almost at lock up too so we are in a similar boat. Insurer is sending an external building surveyor out to do a report on my site within the next few days. Hopefully yours will start moving soon! Jo Re: Paulding Construction collapse 13Dec 11, 2009 7:30 pm Hi all, I feel for you all at the moment, what a shocking time. Officially we haven't received any notification, i only found out after several phonecalls to our site supervisor's mobile weren't returned, and a couple of emails bounced back. I rang the office direct and an anonymous voice asked why i was ringing. When i explained why, i was informed that "they" had gone into receivership, and that if i left my details "someone" from the liquidators would contact me. I was so shell-shocked i didn't even think to ask who i had been speaking with. Fortunately, we had handover for our building mid-november, and despite several defects that were identified during the final inspection and were agreed/supposed to be completed asap post handover, we certainly feel we are amongst the lucky ones. Looking at it now, it was almost as if the supervisor, Nick S, was trying to tell us something without actually coming out and saying it?! I didn't chase the liquidator thing down until today as i was more than aware that there would have been folk left well and truly in the lurch, at least we were in. When i phoned the office number, it just rang off the hook. I rang HIA today, as obviously the contract is one of theirs, and after telling them that no i wasn't a HIA member, i was told they didn't know anything about it and they gave me the phnoe number for Consumer Affairs. So, google being my friend, i found this forum and you have already pointed me in the right direction re: vero. cheers! Jot, i hear you re: Jot I had trouble with them from the very beginning so this is almost funny - if it weren't so devastating. Anyway, we will fill out the forms and see what happens. Again, our thoughts are with you all, and the employees who are definately feeling it in another way. Sorry for the essay, Bonesx Re: Paulding Construction collapse 14Dec 12, 2009 9:12 pm Bonesx - thank you for the support. So glad you found our little forum page. I felt the same way about my site supervisor - that he was delaying my work purposely to help me in some way. (Help or hinder? .. he seemed like a good guy.) The sales lady I originally spoke with - Tracey - was absolutely wonderful but after I gave my deposit things went down hill fast. "We had to chase them down over everything to the point where i felt like a stalker." (Bonesx) That is me in a nutshell. I don't know if anyone else had Adele as their project manager but having her "help" me, then quit and being replaced with no one was a nightmare on its own. I received a letter last week from the building permit company advising me of the liquidation, actually. But still no official word from Paulding. An external building surveyor was at my site today to do a report so Vero seem on top of things. A huge releif. Two words of advice also to those with unfinished homes - ring your bank & advise them of the situation. They will make a note on their systems. It's important they know they what's going on too. The other is to arrange temporary fencing with the ATF. I told Vero to alert clients about the fencing situation and from what I hear they are, which is great. An abandoned house with no protection is very scary. Jo Re: Paulding Construction collapse 15Dec 14, 2009 11:31 am Hi all, Just to let you know the vero website have posted an update including a creditors meeting which has been scheduled for Friday 18th December. www.vero.com.au Re: Paulding Construction collapse 17Dec 15, 2009 9:27 pm We feel very fortunate as we completed our home with Paulding 3 months ago. In the end we were very happy with our completed home. We have a list of minor defects that would have been taken care of at the 3 month maintenance, but they are obviously our problem now. Like many have already expressed, we started off very well with Paulding, but went down hill rapidly when particular individuals became involved. We feel very much for those people who are only part way through their build. Lets hope Vero can help them find another builder quickly. Re: Paulding Construction collapse 18Dec 15, 2009 9:34 pm Bessy, I am not sure about this but I think the builder ( in this case P) would have paid their (stat) warranty insurance and you may be covered by it since the completion was prior to implosion. I would make some enquiries. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Paulding Construction collapse 19Dec 17, 2009 8:27 pm Thanks for that. I checked with Vero (when I finally got through) and anything that is actually a defect (and not a maintenance issue such as hinges needing adjustment) is covered. We'll see how we go! Re: Paulding Construction collapse 20Dec 19, 2009 7:10 am I can't believe the Paulding website is still up and indicating open for business !., surely this should be closed down. ? * Are we there yet ?
