Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 03, 2009 9:26 am hi all, ive just found out after my independant inspection that the garage piers are too narrow in my house (should be min. 350mm wide to meet standards) if anyone else building with piers in the garage has any photos of the wider piers could you please post a photo asap please. i would like to see what the piers should look like to see what can be done to fix mine. the piers are located on the boundary side of the garage and sort of look like columns up the wall. mine are currently 1 brick wide. thanks in advance Re: Attn: all EB house builders - garage photo needed 3Dec 03, 2009 10:14 am thanks leonard. mine looks the same! 1 brick wide per pier. i wonder maybe mine are suppose to be wider as its for a wall 1.5 storeys high. does your garage have a dropped edge beam where they put the footing deep into the ground? it might just be a condition of building where i am. ill post a pic of mine if i can manage how to post a pic! mel Re: Attn: all EB house builders - garage photo needed 4Dec 03, 2009 10:39 am Hi Mel, Nope no drop edge beam in my house. just the standard ~80mm stepdown from internal floor height the garage floor height. To post a pic on here you need to host your photos on photobucket or a similar site then encapsulate the pic url within the image brackets I use photbucket as I find it very easy to use. 1. Upload your pics to photobucket then 2. Roll your mouse over the pic and a dropdown list will appear. Copy the [img] url from the list and paste it as is onto your H1 forum message 3. Check that it has worked by hitting "preview" and if successful your pic will appear in the body of the message. Note: there are size limitations (Height and Width) so if your pic is too big it won't work. I resize all of my pics in windows paint and save them as jpegs before uploading them to photobucket. Good luck. Re: Attn: all EB house builders - garage photo needed 5Dec 03, 2009 11:09 am thanks for the tips leonard. fingers crossed ive worked it out! the preview seems to look fine so this is my garage (from a few months ago). looks the same as yours in terms of pier width but mine doesnt comply hope this and everything else wrong doesnt take my settlement until next year... you're lucky - you started after me and you finish before me and your house is bigger! atleast oneof us will be in before Christmas!
