Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 01, 2009 2:08 am Hi Just wondering how easy it is to replace a shower head. We have been quoted $300 to change from std shower head to a rectangular rain one. Already up against the budget and this is one that may have to get chopped but only if it is a simple change down the track. Can anyone help? But the rain showers are usually ceiling-mounted, while standard ones are mounted on the tiled wall. You can get rainheads with an "S" shaped wall mount, but I don't know if the height would be the same as standard.... Go to your local plumbing supplies place and have a chat to the guys there. They'll be able to tell you. They can also give you the price of a new shower head and fittings, then you can figure out if it's worth DIY-ing. If you want it ceiling mounted, just pay the $300 and do it now. I'm betting it'll cost a lot more to do later. Re-tiling, running the water to a new point....sounds expensive. I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
