Mainly because I didn't consider the aesthetics when looking at them from the outside. Our windows are a beigey colour (I didn't build our new house, so didn't pick the colours) and the shutters are white. Doesn't go. I should have opted for drapes, but again I would have had difficulty choosing a colour. We have white plantation shutters along the front of our property (6 large windows). On initial installation they looked great from inside but really stood out when viewed from the footpath. We were always getting those windows tinted anyway, and once that was done it has massively reduced the visible 'in your face' appearance from outside.
