Browse Forums Building A New House added 2Jul 14, 2007 10:58 am Hi Osker
We didn't have Plantation listed so have added them to BB. Looks like they only build in Queensland. If you go with them it would be great to hear how you get on! Best regards Re: Plantation Homes 6Jul 18, 2007 11:00 pm Where do we start?!?!?!?!
Can we have the rumpus and Grand Alfresco, "We can do that,we will send it to estimating"( this take two weeks to get a new proposal). This now gives you a window that does not open but dont wait for anyone to inform you of this info. You did not include the cosham colours that we did 2 weeks ago!!! "OH YES that has to now go to estimating "(two weeks, Two weeks, etc). This painful process began back in March 2006. Building was to commence 8 Nov, became late Jan, and may finish Mid Aug2007, This being after they do the post contract variations they so kindly have/had missed or got wrong, This after going through the painful lengthy process with the girls in the office to make sure we got what we wanted, the supervisor didn't even have the right info to give the subbies.Did I mention that this has been an extremely painful process!!!! The lack of communication and organisation on their part leaves you with an urge of banging your head against a wall. WE WILL NEVER BUILD WITH PLANtATION AGAIN. We have not done our final inspection yet but have picked up on quite a few things along the way Some of the tradies were quite good but watch the cabinet makers( our was a bit "how's your father") ELECTRICAL- Electricians are now deregulated and can get away with blue murder. NOBODY CHECKS THEIR WORK. Make sure your home is cabled to Australian Standards not to the sparkies self regulated standards!!!!! Keep checking the progress each day or twice a week at least to make sure all is being done as per contract.( more stories to tell there) Don't believe the claims about the jobs comming in early or before time. 17 months from first signing to handover is a long time . We recently heard other horror stories about them when people saw that we were building with plantation, but we have also heard a couple of good ones from before we started. On the positive- The Retreat is a very nice home and we cannot wait to be in it. I'm sorry if I dont sound too excited but we both feel that the energy and enthiusiasm has just about been fully drained at this point. You will however get bad and good stories about all builders. If I didn't want this house plan so much I would have bought a preloved home to avoid the heartache of dealing with a builder. It is very seldom you hear that bui8lding a home is a great experience. Stay on there case. Be prepared for a long slog. Will let you know soon if it has all been worthwhile. Re: Plantation Homes 7Jul 19, 2007 10:57 am Thanks for that report mollmart.
Yes, we think the Retreat is a great house as well and I look forward to hearing from you when you finally move in. I used to work in interiors years ago and almost daily used to listen to clients horror stories with builders. we vowed never to build but always buy preloved. But______now we have decided to knockdown and rebuild and because of a fairly large pool in the back we had trouble finding something that had what we wanted and fitted on the lot. The Empire fits perfectly and we are pretty happy with the master plan as is. So____we are probably stuck with Plantation but obviously need to keep on their case. I’m curious about how you went with this. We are planning a KDRB and considering Plantation Homes as a builder. I’m aware that after the demolition another soil test… 1 6326 You can put a roller blind behind the shutters.
