Browse Forums Building A New House Re: The houses you wish you could build 22Dec 01, 2009 9:00 pm Salt&PepperMkII kek The Carlisle one didn't press any buttons - and I hate the laundry placement. The Carlisle design probably didnt press any buttons.. because as you can see the display home isnt flooded and overfilled with 'luxury' upgrades like PD and M houses. Mind you, the Carlisle one would probably be more affordable and valuable. But I guess thats what we all tend to look at when visiting display homes. Sometimes we get overwhelmed and carried away.. we take more note of the furnishings, the landscaping, the pools, the decorating etc.. and less attention to the actual house floorplan. Ummm No, when I look at a display house I look at it's floor plan and not it's niceties. Oh and I am with Jo - stop with the brown nosing Carlisle and rubbishing other builders, it's really tiring. Surely you can put across what you see as the positives of Carlisle without the negativity to other builders. 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Re: The houses you wish you could build 24Dec 03, 2009 9:40 pm S&P - you should walk around my PD house and see how well it works for a family, then you might change your mind about their designs Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Corny, but true.. And 7 years of dreaming. The PD Waldorf ticked all our boxes.. My only item missing is an open fireplace - a matter of compromise.. Maybe later? In regards to displays... Never paid attention to overall decorating... Just how the rooms flowed. We each have our own style and displays are always over-optioned to showcase what is available. No-one ever said you had to have it all Re: The houses you wish you could build 31May 08, 2011 11:12 pm The Galaxy, from Young Homes (on display at Bella Vista Water, NSW)... Re: The houses you wish you could build 32May 08, 2011 11:23 pm Loren 40 by my current builder strikes my fancy. I like the idea of having a balcony off the master bedroom. Of course I would put a door from the garage to the entry hall rather than through the store room. http://www.bentleyhomes.com.au/index.php/loren-40 http://www.bentleyhomes.com.au/index.php/component/docman/doc_download/53-loren40 Matt's Brando: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46340 Started March 30th 2011 PCI July 15th Re: The houses you wish you could build 33May 12, 2011 8:37 pm Another vote for M lindrum! DW and I both loved it. Especially the semi-outside room upstairs. Was disheartened however when I got my hands on the display options pricing. Stopped counting after $800000 We are building the vaucluse by NBG which we are happy with though ( or hope to be ) for about a half mill less than that! Re: The houses you wish you could build 34May 12, 2011 10:30 pm If I had lots & lots of money I would design my dream home & build it, oversee it like people do on grand designs. Absolutely love that show! I think It would have to have a beach view, lots of windows, huge balcony, alfresco, the list goes on! Smething unique that I would only have! Lol Dreams ha! Re: The houses you wish you could build 35May 14, 2011 8:28 am I'm with Mel. My dream house would have to be on on dream acreage with views of hills , lots of green in winter and some water even if it was only over looking a dam. One of my work friends is on 5 acres . I'd never have thought that was enough but their block faces on to others on undulating land and they have several small dams including one spring fed. It's awesome. The only prob with their place is it isnt aligned for the best eco gain in terms of heating for winter. Re: The houses you wish you could build 36May 14, 2011 9:03 am Call me weird but I would have loved a home with secret rooms, you know the kind that are cleverly hidden behind bookcases . I think it would be a hoot to have a door that may just look like part of a wall, have all your friends wondering where you have disappeared to. Maybe somewhere where the inlaws cant find me!::lol:: Also would have loved a basement. A while ago I did several plans that included a basement for a Media room and Gym room but of course that had got blown out of the water when I found out excavations costs . Oh well... happy with what I'm building now. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
