Browse Forums Building A New House Re: absolute photo fest !!! 2 weeks worth 21Dec 23, 2009 10:38 am The house is looking great! I look forward to seeing your plans Building 'The Kingston' (with 'Boston' elevation) through Blueprint Homes in Hocking, Perth **PCI complete 06.02.10** My Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17607 Re: absolute photo fest !!! 2 weeks worth 22Dec 23, 2009 11:24 am ok here it is, the much needed house plan. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The house plan to begin with had the bedroom window at the front and the ensuite window on the back of the house. But because i am corner block council came back and said that because i am on a corner block i have to have a corner treatment. I was on an etremely dollar for dollar budget. So the front facing bedroom window got moved to the side. and the ensuite window got moved to the side facing side aswell. This window got changed from a small above the toilet window to a long awning window, which i now much much more prefer.....i like hehe. The bedroom window is off centre which i asked if could be moved to centre but the council said no it had to be the same distance from the side as the bathroom window, so offcentre it went. Looking at it now after it has started to build i dont think i mind as much because i have more use for my room also i could use that area to put a little chair and have a miniture retreat haha....just thinking logically. The original plan is not a display so i have never seen my house until my house started. The one thing i changed straight away once noticed was the kitchen. It was enclosed with a wall. which i did not like at all. This would have mad the kitchen look rediculously small and the living area look pokey. So the wall went. I just have a normal bench size, no over hang because of the bedroom door. And i didnt want to eat into any of the lounge wall otherwise there would be a door and tv right next to each other, plus with the small area i didnt think i would need it anyway. I also added a dishwasher provision and a pantry. Wierd yes i know that my house did not come with a pantry. none of their plans do....And i am so glad my budget allowed for it because i have lived in a rental before with no pantry and it was so annoying. I had food all over the place. So hope you enjoy, my plan is as standard as it comes, no up grades apart from the pantry, dishwasher provision, and awning window in the ensuite. Take care and thankyou for the patience for the house plan.... kind regards p.s there are going to more photos to follow in a minute hehe im in love building heysen4e through SarahHomes at Milang IM THE PROUD OWNER OF DIRT house into council 22/08 Unconditionally approved 25/09 mortgage docs signed 29/09 land settled 09/10 land titled 22/10 start date about two weeks away!!! http://www.mymilangbuild.blogspot.com/ I have a roof !!! more photos added..... 23Dec 23, 2009 11:35 am photos to come i hope you all have a merry christmas and a safe and happy new year. all the best for a safe year to come building heysen4e through SarahHomes at Milang IM THE PROUD OWNER OF DIRT house into council 22/08 Unconditionally approved 25/09 mortgage docs signed 29/09 land settled 09/10 land titled 22/10 start date about two weeks away!!! http://www.mymilangbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: i have a roof !!! added more pics including the HOUSE PLAN 24Dec 23, 2009 7:10 pm I thought I'd seen you post that plan before - was that the original version and this is with modifications? Anyway glad to hear its all going full steam ahead, good luck with it all Re pantries - we dont have a walk in pantry - at first I missed the corner WIP we had in our old house but wasnt possible to do here without losing the kitchen window and I much prefer kitchens with windows. We have a double door non walk in pantry and that does us fine Re: i have a roof !!! added more pics including the HOUSE PLAN 25Dec 24, 2009 12:40 am wow!! It is amazing just how fast it went from site scrape to really looking like a house! =) Congrats =) This is such an exciting time! Re: i have a roof !!! added more pics including the HOUSE PLAN 26Dec 24, 2009 12:42 am Congrats!!! Its coming along really well!! Love the plan too viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: i have a roof !!! added more pics including the HOUSE PLAN 27Dec 24, 2009 3:42 am helyn, Hi, thankyou for your response. I never actually posted a picture from memory but i did put up a link to the builders website if i remember rightly. I then left an explination as to what i was changing. So the answer to your question yes this is the modified version. As for the pantry situation, there wasnt one at all. Im happy with what i got for a pantry thought. I dont need a huge walk in one, my mum has one at her house and she finds she forgets about food she has brought because its not visable. Also i love kitchens with windows as well but the problem with my plan was because i altered the kitchen rather dramatically by moving things around, my window ended up placed over the top of the stove, which was never going to happen....!! And it would have cut into fridge space, but i think i have it ok it faces the loungeroom window which is a wopping 2450 window, so it should get alot of sun through plus i also have the sliding door right next to it. I think it works, well i hope so......... somewomen thankyou for your comments, yes i totally agree with the speed. I had site scrape on the 27th of november, 1 1/2 weeks later i thought i would go out and have a nosey not thinking much would be done and too my suprise i had everything upto frame stage, even roof trusses!!! so i missed out on the other milestones.....awww. They have done something nearly every day since the site scrape, i have an absolutely wonderful site supervisor who i havent met yet but seems like superman to me hehe, love him even answers the phone at 6pm after i had been at the block and just couldnt stop thinking about something. was happy as always. jodie80 Thankyou for your comments also. I love my plan, i think it really works. It uses space really well. For a smaller plan than the usual 20-30sq homes im happy, which i guess is all that matters. There are things i would love later in a more suitable house, like i would love a second living area and maybe a study but this is why the next size bedroom to the main is pretty much the same size, i liked this and found it as a benefit because it would fit a little two seater "and the rest" for a nice neat little tv room for the girls. building heysen4e through SarahHomes at Milang IM THE PROUD OWNER OF DIRT house into council 22/08 Unconditionally approved 25/09 mortgage docs signed 29/09 land settled 09/10 land titled 22/10 start date about two weeks away!!! http://www.mymilangbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: i have a roof !!! added more pics including the HOUSE PLAN 28Dec 24, 2009 9:23 am Re your kitchen - yes I agree - the lack of its own window should not be a problem as you have a large window from the lounge room (this will be another benifit of removeing the kitchen wall) and also the dining window next to it. Many modern homes seem to have the kitchen tucked away with no natural light at all, ours is the traditional window over the sink style. I think your kitchen is using available space well Re: i have a roof !!! added more pics including the HOUSE PLAN 29Dec 24, 2009 2:28 pm Thankyou helyn, i agree with your comments about the kitchen positioning on many modern plans. I rememeber a few years back when my mum was building her house, how hard it was to find a kitchen that had a window. Many had a rediculous amount of cupboards around the top "no dis-respect to people who love their over heads, each to their own ofcourse", thus leaving no room for a window. Many are placed facing over family or living areas also dining, which many of these rooms dont have windows cause they generally will have another room behind it. I hope i get enough light, if not ill think about a skylight or something later down the track but i dont think ill have many issues as you said i have the window facing the kitchen. merry christmas building heysen4e through SarahHomes at Milang IM THE PROUD OWNER OF DIRT house into council 22/08 Unconditionally approved 25/09 mortgage docs signed 29/09 land settled 09/10 land titled 22/10 start date about two weeks away!!! http://www.mymilangbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: i have a roof !!! added more pics including the HOUSE PLAN 30Dec 26, 2009 3:13 pm Hi, I am watching your build with interest. I will be building a basic design mid next year in Tassie. Best of luck and hope the new year is good to you! Regards, Carolyn Carolyn Re: i have a roof !!! added more pics including the HOUSE PLAN 31Dec 26, 2009 3:59 pm hi there congratulations on your home. i do agree that sometimes its abit overwhelming reading about the awsome houses others are building..but this is hugely exciting and most people building a deluxe home are double income and have built before, but we all have to start somewhere . my house is also relatively simple but im hoping to keep it longterm as an investment, we will have to wait and see. i love your plan. great open area and kids bedrooms at the other end of the house means they can make more noise and you can still have a peaceful retreat! i hope you and your girls had a great xmas cant wait to see more pics When times get tough build a house...Our second build Re: i have a roof !!! added more pics including the HOUSE PLAN 32Dec 27, 2009 2:59 am caromac- thankyou i like the simple feel Already and im not even living in it.
