I reckon a home with a small bathroom directly accessible from outside with a good wash basin, a shower and a dunny (or urinal) would be an excellent feature. That way, we can clean up or go to the loo before bringing all the crap inside. Ash. That's why we put french doors to the ensuite, just near the alfresco. Terrence Malick Re: Putting a urinal into a home bathroom 22Dec 07, 2009 12:16 pm Whilst I sympathise with those that have to clean them, I actually think this is a ripper idea. Unfortunately I was unable to convince my cleaner ... err ... wife of this when designing our new house. Just think of the practicality (not to mention the novelty) when hosting parties, or when the cricket / footy team-mates comes over ... genius ! Very easy to aim when you are siting on the toilet seat. Re: Putting a urinal into a home bathroom 32Dec 07, 2009 7:59 pm catjim Sorry I even asked the question..... Don't be sorry, some people need to double check their replies for rudeness before hitting submit. I personally would not have a urinal, because I wouldn't like to clean it (when it's my turn to do so). And I reckon it would probably be stinky..? But as a few people have suggested, in an "out-house" sort of situation I think it could definitely work, especially if your boys like to have parties. Re: Putting a urinal into a home bathroom 33Dec 08, 2009 9:59 am The trouble wif you wimmin is you attach all sorts of emotional associations with the said urinal! From a perfectly practical POV, a good wall mounted urinal is simply far better designed for the task-at-hand than a (one-size-fits-all) toilet. Without going into all the nitty gritty details of the act of ******* from a male perspective, a good urinal wins hands down. And as previously explained, by more efficiently containing the activity, it makes cleaning a much simpler job for all concerned. Me thinks not too many people here are thinking outside the square, (or oval)! Ash. Re: Putting a urinal into a home bathroom 34Dec 08, 2009 10:24 am Thanks Mikaela & Ash for your support. I agree Ash. Everyone seems to have a problem with cleaning of said urinal but I'm not talking about having a stainless steel or concrete trough in the floor with urinal blocks in it. I'm talking about a porcelain urinal hanging on the wall. Everyone has to clean their toilet and the urinal wouldn't be any different. In fact it would be better when you consider what goes into a toilet compared to a urinal. Re: Putting a urinal into a home bathroom 35Dec 10, 2009 8:57 am Catjim, I'd have to disagree with the urinal leading to less mess theory. Judging by the state of most public toilets more men seem to be able to aim better at a regular toilet than at the urinal. The urinal would be a good novelty but a very messy novalty if you consider men trying to test themselves by seeing how far back they can stand and still aim straight. Trust me it'll happen!!! I hope you have a good toilet mat handy. In my books it'd just be another thing to clean on top of the regular toilet. Best regards, Shozza Re: Putting a urinal into a home bathroom 36Dec 10, 2009 9:02 am I have been thinking about this.... and what exactly grosses me out. For me, it is the positioning of the urinal, the fact it is on the wall. If it is next to the toilet (logical place), that means it is pretty much at head height when someone is sitting on the toilet. If it is one the opposite wall.... you are looking at it. Either way it is at head height. I would just rather all that stuff under me than in my face.... literally. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Well girls, if that grosses you out, how about this?...... I have a customer that is about the most anal control freak I've ever met! He has three beautiful daughters in their twenties. At his home in the toilet that serrvices the girls' bedrooms, he saw fit years ago (when he built the house) to install a vintage item on the wall. Its a wall mounted sanitary disposal chute. Very solidly built from iron with enamel panels and embossed lettering. The name brand of the item is "GOOD RID". Makes me wonder how the girls felt about this 'wall feature'!!! Ash.
