Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 27, 2009 4:47 pm Contracts have been signed and we are waiting on the land title. Now I want to change the Laminate bench tops in the bathroom to caesorstone and also pay the variation fee ,but my wife says leave it . I heard that laminate wears and is not so durable because of all the moisture . Is that true ? Re: Caesorstone or Laminate bench top in the bathroom 3Nov 27, 2009 5:52 pm The house we are in now has laminate bench tops in the bathrooms. About 20 years old, showing signs of bleaching, but not really water damage per se... My parents home is also laminate, looks new (albeit extremely daggy and early 80s, brown swirly). Personally, I'd go the stone... We have had it previously and are having it in our new house that is currently being built. It is seriously so much more luxurious, and beautiful to keep clean. The only place we've used laminate benches is the laundry. Re: Caesorstone or Laminate bench top in the bathroom 5Nov 27, 2009 10:40 pm I agree.. caesarstone is overrated.. We have caesarstone in the kitchen, however the bathrooms have laminate. I didnt see the need to have stone benchtops in the bathrooms.. and no, I dont see moisture as a problem. Besides, if you choose the right laminate colour, it will look fantastic. But if you want 'that look', fork out the money for stone benchtops.. But remember, stone benchtops arent a necessity in the bathroom, more so used for the 'look'. Re: Caesorstone or Laminate bench top in the bathroom 6Nov 27, 2009 11:31 pm I heard stone is porous, so I'm worried if I spill some juice/cordial on the stone, it will absorb the colour. Is this true? I'm not sure myself whether to use caesarstone or laminate for my bathrooms. Waiting for 2010 Land registration.... Re: Caesorstone or Laminate bench top in the bathroom 7Nov 28, 2009 7:16 am We are putting caesarstone in the bathrooms as my wife has a habit of leaving the hair straightener on which will damage laminate. As far as I know, caesarstone is not porous. We have had it in a house we have been renting for 2 years and it tolerates heat and moisture extremly well. Re: Caesorstone or Laminate bench top in the bathroom 8Nov 28, 2009 9:25 am Caesarstone IS porous. Carlisle told us this at our Maintenance inspection. Re: Caesorstone or Laminate bench top in the bathroom 9Nov 28, 2009 10:12 am http://www.caesarstone.com.au/what_is_caesarstone.aspx It is marketed as non-porous on the caesarstone website. Re: Caesorstone or Laminate bench top in the bathroom 10Nov 28, 2009 10:27 am We went for laminex in the end but initially I really wanted stone bench top in the ensuite. I am very happy with the laminex we chose. For the kitchen stone is a must for us. Re: Caesorstone or Laminate bench top in the bathroom 11Nov 28, 2009 4:50 pm We are going for Ceaserstone in all.. These can be easily filled and repaired and it doesn't cost them much to do. Id get the builder to do this first and if the repair is not suitable then a replacement is… 12 31266 Thanks Ardo, they are sort of semi concealed. I think it is only a few millimetres. I see if they can adjust the hinges. 4 3796 |
