Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Raising issues when you're not supposed to be there 22Nov 27, 2009 2:31 pm seast Since many of us are not supposed to be on site with out 'permission' or without the presence of the SS, how do you raise issues or problems you have noticed after hours?? Hi seast, I am building a 'plantation home' (in fixing stage ) as well in Brisbane North. I have the same question so I ask my CSO. She actully told me to go in after hours but just be very careful. (She also said everyone go in anyway.... ) I guess you just have to be upfront and ask the question. TNT Re: Raising issues when you're not supposed to be there 23Nov 27, 2009 2:38 pm I think this will be fine as long as you are having a continuously good relationship with them and never ask hard questions ... Regarding CSO I had no idea I had one, untill about two weeks ago and I handover today. I had no customer service from her at all. My SS tells me I was supposed to tell her all of the issues on site!!! Why when I can email my SS direct? Re: Raising issues when you're not supposed to be there 25Dec 01, 2009 7:23 am buildingwithhamra My contract says I can visit the site at any time. I cannot believe it, you are so lucky with your builder (well, at least with this bit)! Just out of interest (more like amazement ) - who is your builder and which state it is, if it's not too much to ask? buildingwithhamra Regarding CSO I had no idea I had one, untill about two weeks ago and I handover today. This is so funny ... well, at least it worked out for you the other way! I also found out something interesting myself - after the construction started, for all my queries of quite different nature, my CSO was telling me to see the SS ... now I found that everything needs to go via the CSO, including any build issues and stuff-ups. Supposedly (and some of you could probably add more to this), only emails between the client and the CSO end up in the client's "file" - which might be important to the client one day. ... Re: Raising issues when you're not supposed to be there 26Dec 01, 2009 7:41 am It probably depends on your SS whether or not they are happy for you to go there or not. Mine said that even though you shouldn't go there everyone does so he's ok with it. In fact I sense he encourages it as it does make his life easier picking up on things during the build rather than after! I think if you want something done always contact your SS. I gave up on my customer service person long ago! I gave up on my customer service person long ago! Very lucky (you are) ... on our very first intro meeting (when he hadn't OKed any defective work yet as there was nothing done yet!), mine somehow managed to mention that "if we were caught to be on site ... [nothing good to us would come out of that] ..." !!! Also, we would be in a serious breach and they can end the contract if they want. So, it's 'play by the book' for us (which means to keep the CSO involved 100% of the time). Of course, nobody is preventing us to stop raising issues with the SS directly, but the CSO must know about them as well (ie. the point is that you must put it in writing, officially, and I understand that the way to do that is to email the CSO).
