Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Dennis Family Homes -delays? also bushfire attack level 21Apr 16, 2010 7:46 am Does anyone know who has to assess the Bushfire Attack Level? Our Building certified is being evasive about this question. They are recommending a company that charges $825 for something that I was able to do in 15 minutes. It's not rocket science. This smells like rip-off to me. Can it be self-assessed? Re: Dennis Family Homes -delays? also bushfire attack level 22Apr 16, 2010 8:39 am Hi Cyberman We had to have a planning permit with our council before building and had to have a fire plan included with that ( although it was submited before the black sat fires ) during the process the fires happenend and the council sent the cfa out to do our BAL they gave us a BAL29. After getting the permit and signing our inital papers for our home with DFH they actually got the building inspecter out (no charge) and he gave us a BAL 40, this added $18,500 to the cost of our home but hey we are meant to be safe.. Maybe ring your local council and ask them so you dont have to have a private person come out.. The guy down our road wants to put an extension on his house he got the council in to do his it came back as a FZ which means you cant actually build there so will now have to get a indipendant person to re asses to try and get it lower..\ Where are you building? I gather you're in Vic. The Brisbane City Council had no idea. I made over 15 phone calls earlier this week and everyone was clueless. This is ridiculous. Re: Dennis Family Homes -delays? also bushfire attack level 24Apr 16, 2010 9:52 am hi cyberman yes I am in victoria in a rural area although I did hear the other day that all new homes in Victoria had to have a Bal, hmmm 15 calls and no one knows thats odd do you have to have a Bal rating in Brisbane at all then if no one knows .. Are you building with a company or a ownerbuilder maybe if its with a company they would know very strange .. In Victoria you can also phone the building commision they tell you what you need and dont need so maybe they would know try them... Why not give us a later date so we are not wondering what the hell is happening hmmmm I am confused lets hope he is not away for a month I guess the time is ticking on our project and they will have to finish by the date given or they have to pay us.... Just getting really mad with these people Soots viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31037 harvard 27 DFH signed contract 16th March 2010 slab down 1st June 2010 frame started 8th June 2010 trusses and frame finished 24th June 2010 tiles almost done 14th July 2010 Bricks started 14th July 2010 Plaster started 28th July 2010 Paint 25th August 2010 Re: Dennis Family Homes -delays? also bushfire attack level 26Apr 19, 2010 5:03 pm Yay we have just received a call from the SS to say he is coming up Thursday morning for our appointment well I guess we are on the move now viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31037 harvard 27 DFH signed contract 16th March 2010 slab down 1st June 2010 frame started 8th June 2010 trusses and frame finished 24th June 2010 tiles almost done 14th July 2010 Bricks started 14th July 2010 Plaster started 28th July 2010 Paint 25th August 2010 Re: Dennis Family Homes -delays? also bushfire attack level 27Apr 19, 2010 5:42 pm OMG Congrats Soots!
