I love the idea behind them. When I look at my kitchen though you can see that the doors opening to the corner section are different sizes. So I don't know if this setup will work. Re: netadelle's build 64Jan 01, 2010 8:07 pm Lookin' good netadelle What's going on with your tiles though? Have they started laying them yet or are they still sitting in a pile in the middle of the room? I'd be tempted to break in one night and lay a few out somewhere just to see what they will look like Re: netadelle's build 65Jan 01, 2010 9:11 pm they are porclain 600x600 and bloody heavy, I don't have that much energy
I will see then laid out soon enough, I mean he has filled up a whole heap of buckets with water, he is bound to start soon!! Hopefully tommorow edit: they are 300 x 600 Re: netadelle's build 66Jan 01, 2010 9:15 pm netadelle they are porclain 600x600 and bloody heavy, I don't have that much energy I will see then laid out soon enough, I mean he has filled up a whole heap of buckets with water, he is bound to start soon!! Re: netadelle's build 68Jan 03, 2010 11:37 am netadelle Im still not totally sold on the roof with the bricks, I am waiting until the guttering gets painted! I figure the roof will fade a bit to... I am however really starting to worry about the whooping great big red door that is going to be the garage!! I think people will be to busy looking at that to notice the bricks! I should take pictures of other houses on the street, they are all cream brick with black roofs! We only have one house in our street so far and yep it's cream with a black roof! Thankfully, we had chosen darker colours with a lighter roof...but what is it with the cream/black thing in Adelaide??! Kim Re: netadelle's build 69Jan 03, 2010 11:54 am netadelle Hi all, Well it seems some tradesmen are still working over this 'down' time, as we have our 'down' pipes !! Thanks to some questions by someone on the forum I have found this cool idea for my corner cupboards. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I really like the deeper pot draw type ones. I am hoping they either use the current doors or...hmmm I might go dumpster diving and pull out the extra pieces of charcoal laminate. Hubby says "looks expensive" so I might go visit the showroom tommorow and see if it is just a pipe dream. For my reference the draws come from here...http://www.wilbrad.com.au/ Also for my reference I really like the thoughts behind how to set out your kitchen discussed on this web site. Who would have thought there was a 'science' behind where you put the pots in your kitchen. http://www.dynamicspace.com/dynamicspace/en/04/01/02/index.html I think Ikea do some corner drawers like those also? I can't wait to see the top on your kitchen bench as we have a similar colour top with darker cupboards underneath so it's always good to see what it looks like, rather than just visualising..so lots of kitchen pics when it's installed :) Kim Re: netadelle's build 71Jan 03, 2010 8:16 pm Lynchy We only have one house in our street so far and yep it's cream with a black roof! Thankfully, we had chosen darker colours with a lighter roof...but what is it with the cream/black thing in Adelaide??! I think it is because those type of bricks are made here in SA, so they are the ones available in the builders standard choice bricks, i.e. the cheapest option. Lynchy I think Ikea do some corner drawers like those also? I can't wait to see the top on your kitchen bench as we have a similar colour top with darker cupboards underneath so it's always good to see what it looks like, rather than just visualising..so lots of kitchen pics when it's installed :) I just spent an hour trawling through the IKEA website and couldn't find anything. Yes I can't wait to see the kitchen bench top either! We went floor tile hunting again today. We have picked out a tile called 'alabaster' which in the wrong light can look pink, so I really want the kitchen benchtop in so that I can put the tile against it and see! Caromac Hi Netadelle, Would love to know what your colour scheme is. Would you be able to put up some pics with some the name. Our colour _theme_ is a Japenese rock garden. Bricks: PGH Sorbetto Mortar: Light with white sand Roof tiles: Boral Capri Mid Grey Garage door will be: Manor Red Front door will be: Manor Red Window Frames: Satin Black Verandah tiles: will be grey Gutters; Facia; verandah posts: Colourbond Monument - which is as close to black as we could get. Re: netadelle's build 72Jan 03, 2010 8:20 pm themax I hope that you will tell us $$$ for the corner drawers when you find out please, pretty please???? I rang the number, it was transferred to someones mobile, they don't open until the 11th, which is when I go back to work The reception was really bad but I got the impression that they started at $200 a draw up to $400 a draw. But the more I look at them the more I'm thinking I might be able to get my Dad to make some for me. I mean they are just a odd shaped draw really. I lie in bed at night thinking about how I might make weird things like this. I'm pretty sure I might be able to make my own water urn feature thing out the front to. I've seen them at nurseries for like $2000. All you need is a Urn and a pump..... All stuff that is never likely to happen if I am perfectly honest with myself Re: netadelle's build 74Jan 04, 2010 12:28 am Oh I am totally nuts. But check this out. A solar powered pump to go in an urn! http://www.creativepumps.com.au/zpumps/solarever/solarpump_kits/sm203_solarpump.htm You get an urn, drill a hole in the bottom, put the cord through, seal it up with silicon sealer, put the pump in the bottom of the urn, fill the urn up with water, turn the pump on. Brilliant! These guys are just down the road from me, think I might have to go visit them tommorow! I am thinking now the front garden will have three terraces, and the middle terrace will have a Urn with water bubbling away in it and maybe two mop tops either side. Hmm I need to get this drawn up and get Fu's input. I might go make some measurements of the front of the house tommorow. Re: netadelle's build 75Jan 04, 2010 7:36 am Can't wait to see your garden, Netadelle.... I love the simple urn water features too. I keep tossing up between one of those and a really impressive water wall for our back yard. Talk about a contrast.... Perhaps I'll have to have both? Re: netadelle's build - towels for the bathroom 76Jan 04, 2010 9:13 pm My mum called early this morning and said "I'm standing in an undercover parking spot here at Marion, come shopping" So I threw the kids in the car and went down to meet her. I wanted to buy some new towels for the new house, I had seen some in the Harris Scarf catalogue on special from $34 down to $7.95 and they where the perfect green to. We got to HS and there was only 1 green towel left. We called all the other stores, but none of them had any more. So after an hour of debating the pros and cons of the other towels on sale and calling the other stores and chasing the children around the store we gave up and went and had a coffee. My Mum loves DJs so we went there afterward to have a look and see if they had any nice Christmas decorations on sale. Mum noticed the towels where on sale in DJs also. So another hour was spent debating the merrits of the towels, there weights size if they felt nice or not. Mum got out this dark charcoal towel and a white towel and put them side by side so that we could 'test' the green towels next to them all. OMG I was going to 'duck' into HS buy the towels and go home, 20mins tops. We where at the shops for 4 hours!! debating about towels. Here they are ... What do you think Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Best bit about shopping with Mum is that she bought them all for my birthday Re: netadelle's build - 2nd fix electrical 77Jan 04, 2010 9:26 pm Since I spent the whole day looking at towels and not the other things I really wanted to get done I consoled myself by going past the house on the way home There were some guys in there doing the electrical work My place is like the only one on the street being worked on at the moment, everyone else must hate me! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I can't work out why the bath goes in to the wall like this?? There was/is heaps of room up the other end? Look at what he has done to prop the bath up. There where a few bricks left over that the brickie had in a nice pile ready to do under the kitchen window. Well the tiling guy took them here for the bath, and look roof tiles to!! They look like they come from the house just down the road from us! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ See the soap holder looking thing on the cabinet? That is supposed to be a foot rest that goes in to the shower alcove. It looks more like a soap thing to me then a foot rest. I think my foot would hurt resting on that. Re: netadelle's build 79Jan 06, 2010 12:04 am Hi emma7 thanks for the comment! I think the charcoal doors are actually Formica. They where not in the standard range and we had to pay an upgrade for them. Went past the house on my way out today, there where no tradesmen and nothing going on however I did notice that the back bedroom window was open. I shut the window so that it looked closed but was not latched. ** deeky that I am. Today's task was to get a carpet quote. I read through all the suggestions that royalblue had given carefully and made notes! I went to the nearest Cavalier Bremworth reseller! There where only two carpet colours that I even remotely liked, and they where on special! I asked and they lay the carpet using a power stretcher. The quote she gave me was $600 cheaper then the nylon carpet quote I got from Solomons! So even more I did however make a mistake, I bought two different colour samples home. Hubby likes the 'grey' colour, I like the darker colour. What do you think? I need some good arguements to bring him over to the dark side. http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee153/netadelle/Build/IMG_0795.jpg He doesn't like it because of the specks of colour through it. They don't come out to well in the photos. http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee153/netadelle/Build/IMG_0796.jpg I have to go back tommorow and get a formal written quote, she is going to see if they can do the underlay upgrade for free like the Solomons carpet was going to. I finally went to the Pond Pump place, the guy said my idea should work *whohoo* with the teeny weeny Solar Pump that I was looking at. I went home via Target to look at the lights Jodge found (http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27892) I cooked hubby his Favorite dinner, (in the new wok) and when he had finished eating suggested that we go up the house and see how the lights look, and if I should buy more! Being completely insane and build obsessed here we are putting up light fittings in a half finished not painted hallway http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee153/netadelle/Build/IMG_0778.jpg http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee153/netadelle/Build/IMG_0779.jpg My husband loves them, so tommorow I will go back and get more! We went for a walk around the reserve that is across the road from us, the kids ran ahead and where kids, we walked and talked, I tried to sell him on the darker carpet..... then we came back to the car and went home. I can't wait till we live there and we can go for a walk after dinner every night! Re: netadelle's build 80Jan 06, 2010 12:42 am netadelle I need some good arguements to bring him over to the dark side. Im betting once its laid he woudnt know the difference. Darker is better.
