Re: netadelle's build-didn't find a bed I liked so I made on 343Jun 21, 2010 1:39 am I seriously love Knock-Off Wood. Even did a logo for their design contest. You've done a great job with the beds. You should post them over at KOW on the bragging board. Judie Re: netadelle's build-Landscape Concept 344Jul 26, 2010 6:41 pm My (ex) brother-in-law has been kind enough to come out and visit us and draw up a landscape concept plan for us. We are going to work off this, with a few changes, mostly just adding a rainwater tank up the back. What does everybody thinK? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I hope the deck will make our place look stunning !! We should get the shutters for the front windows soon, instead of painting them white we are going to leave them natural so that they will tie in with the deck. Re: netadelle's build-Finished Curtains for Girl / Boys Room 345Aug 08, 2010 11:52 pm I finally finished the curtains for my daughters room today! They would have taken me a lot less time if I had less help from the boys! At one stage the baby was pressing down on the sewing machine foot, I thought my machine had gone mad I couldn't work out what was wrong with it because I couldn't see him under the table or feel him pressing on my foot! She had a wood bedside table that we spray painted black, after weeks of searching I found the ideal knobs on ebay. They where a little smaller than I imagined they would be when they arrived, but they look alright on the draws. We also put her Ikea frame mirror up!. That took so much concentration, and measuring twice cutting once! My husband thinks they are to long and I should hem them more, I explained to him that they are supposed to puddle. He doesn't get it. So my next door neighbours moved in, and she showed me around the house. In the boys room they had a racing car bed, and a square light shade the same as mine, but they had stuck car stickers on it. She said she couldn't find any lampshades with cars on them, so they made one themselves. I could have smacked myself in the head, such a brilliant idea! So I promptly went out to Spotlight with my little boy and got him to pick out some stickers! I let him stick on all the ones for the Green room, which is there sleeping room. Maybe even print them onto some white vinyl contact paper and put them on the walls. Hubby also finally put together the IKEA Trofast storage units for the boys play room Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So what did you get up to this weekend? Re: netadelle's build-Finished Curtains for Girl / Boys Room 346Aug 09, 2010 12:09 am Hey netadelle, fantastic work! I just love the curtains you've done for your daughter's room, they are brilliant. It is VERY HARD matching up a detailed pattern like that, especially with help from the small people!! Well done. And just the other week you made those brilliant beds!! Is there no end to your talent?? netadelle So what did you get up to this weekend? Good on you, so satisfying to be able to do it yourself too. I'm really looking forward to that, when we get there! ~ cheers, J _______________________________________________________________ We're a knockdown | rebuild ~ Melb SE burbs Building modified version of the Fairhaven Glenaire Homeone thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28429 _______________________________________________________________ Re: netadelle's build-Finished Curtains for Girl / Boys Room 347Aug 09, 2010 8:16 pm Netadelle - your daughters bedroom looks great (all goes so well together) and what a fantastic idea of your neighbours to stick stickers on the light shade! They look awesome!! .. and they can choose and you can change it as they grow older and their taste changes!! and that ikea play table/storage thingo.. love it!! Looking fabulous!! thanks for continuing to update us! Re: netadelle's build-Finished Curtains for Girl / Boys Room 348Aug 09, 2010 10:01 pm Oh wow, your daughter's room looks fab! She must be so impressed - it's very grown up and elegant If that was my room I'd be trying to have friends over from school all the time so I could show off Re: netadelle's build- More Plantation shutters 349Sep 30, 2010 10:26 pm Bouyed by our success with the shutterkits in our bedroom we decided to do the rest of the rooms we had planned to put shutters in. The 5 windows across the front of the house, the ensuite, the main bathroom and the toilet. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ After much discussion hubby decided to just do what I wanted and we oiled the front ones rather then painted them. He wanted them white, I wanted them wood to match the deck we are putting out the front, I argued that we could always paint them if we didn't like them, but that once painted we couldn't go the other way. I am so glad I won this arguement as I think they look amazing! They bring a real warmth to the look of the front of the house. Re: netadelle's build- Front deck and rocks 350Oct 01, 2010 8:46 pm You can scroll up and refresh yourself with our landscape concept. We have finally saved up enough to start. Given the cost though I am wondering how and why we are doing it. We have 12 months from when we move in to do the front landscaping and I can tell you some of the other houses in the estate are definately not adhereing to this encumberance rule! I think hubby and I both got sick of the dirt pile out the front at the same time. Also he works from home and has had a few customers come around lately to drop of machines and watching them clamber up the dirt pile whilst amusing is not really good for business. So we got 3 quotes for the deck and 2 quotes for the rock wall. There are only 1 place in Adelaide that we could get the rock that we wanted from, and only them and 1 person they knew who would work with it, so we where a bit limited with those. Unsprisingly they quoted the same price! so we went with the person who was available the soonest. For the deck we went with the middle priced quote, mostly because the guy seemed to know what he was talking about the most! and had the most experience. The dirt pile before. Your house looks really terrific, and those huge sandstone boulders in the front lawn will look lovely. Very earthy and nice way to blend in with what looks like bushland surrounds. Your two boys look very cute too I am going to PM you about your bricks... I realised I hadn't put finished photos up, and someone sent me a pm today asking about my garage door. So while I was taking photos of that I thought I should do the front also. Excuse the wonky Christmas bows, it has been gail force winds the last few days, as evidenced by the neighbours fallen letterbox. The wood is Swan river red gum. http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee153/netadelle/Build/IMG_2801.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee153/netadelle/Build/IMG_2803.jpg Goes well with the western red cedar shutters http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee153/netadelle/Build/IMG_2804.jpg http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee153/netadelle/Build/IMG_2806.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee153/netadelle/Build/IMG_2809.jpg I love these steps up to the front porch. I love how the stones came from the quarry you used to ride past as a child - nice circle of life That deck looks great and is an excellent way to extend usable space on a sloping frontage. And lucky you to have that park in front not just for the kids to play, but also it means you will always have that look outlook rather than onto other houses. ps: I loved your Sorbetto bricks, but after MUCH agonising we have decided to go with PGH Cement and Moroka over the top. Just lodged with Council 2 weeks ago so a looooong way to go still!
