Our PD sales rep was brutally honest and said we were just better off getting the electicals done by ourself afterwards. What you could think about doing is having them put extra junction boxes in the ceiling space and having these connected to your switches. The lights could then be added easily afterwards. It probaly does seem like a hasle to organise this yourself afterwards, but worth it to save the extra expense. Hope all goes well Tony Re: electirical pricing on PD Houses and Jet master queries 25Jul 13, 2007 9:44 am ![]() Hi stevec What you could think about doing is having them put extra junction boxes in the ceiling space and having these connected to your switches. Also if you are thinking of halogens or downlights get your ligh bayonet put where one would go, not the middle of the ceiling! Cash/Beer/electrician mates are your freind! Re: electirical pricing on PD Houses and Jet master queries 26Jul 13, 2007 9:52 am Hi Perth_euro,
so far we also have had the bayonet fittings on the spot of first downlight . I was wondering if there would be hassles like having a beam in the way and not being able to allign the remaining downlights in which case the original bayonet fitting also will need to move and thus leaving a hole in the ceiling to patch up... (this was the feedback when someone we know in the building industry reviewed our electrical plan..... otherwise I am all for doing after handover so that I can match with other lights and also get my own choice of downlights) Has anyone experienced these problems while doing the downlights after handover? Re: electirical pricing on PD Houses and Jet master queries 27Jul 13, 2007 6:34 pm Vanderlay - we got pricing last Wednesday for a Lifestyle home, and the price is $39 and $80.
Perhaps the higher price is for a different light? Stainless steel perhaps? Our feeling is that it's overpriced - however getting it done later would be an inconvenience. The double storey we are looking at makes it difficult to get the lower level done later. They still charge a fair bit for junction boxes. Personal choice I guess. When we build and move in, there will be enough to do. At least the lighting will be done! As for the Jetmaster - way too expensive, and we will be getting something else down the track. Perry Re: electirical pricing on PD Houses and Jet master queries 28Jul 13, 2007 8:00 pm I think PD's $ 39 will be for adding downlight in place of existing standard bayonet and $80 is for adding additional ones to standard (ie the extra wiring plus downlight).. Thats like M'kon's $40 and $95..enquire way before you go to your electrical visit..

[sneakersss] Re: electirical pricing on PD Houses and Jet master queries 31Jul 21, 2007 2:02 am I'm going to put my hand up & say we got a Jetmaster when we built with PD (Wentworth & we moved in 3 months ago). We love it & use it quite a bit...even though we also have ducted heating. It's particularly useful in our house because the whole living area is so open & it heats the room up nicely - very cosy on these chilly winter nights. Money wasn't too much of an option in this case - we felt it was easier to have it installed when the house was built as we knew we'd never get it done afterwards.
We had our electrical done through one of PD's contractors. Appalling service, I'm afraid (not PD's fault) & I'd never recommend them. We paid $9k for our electrical...but the house is wired up to the hilt...hubby is an IT professional & wanted smart wiring, servers, etc etc etc throughout the house. We paid too much. But, again, it was more a matter of getting it done while the house was being built as we knew it would be more difficult later on. We only paid around $45 each for our downlights...which is good because we have over 75 of them. Stainless costs more than white & the different profiles also change the price. There is a whole lot more to know than just the answers you seek but they are a good start. Overflow outlets have a mosquito proof mesh.
