Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 24, 2009 6:54 pm Hello, this question is aimed at those of you who are already living in the estate, as well as FTTH services and tradesman. From the Botanic Ridge guidelines: 4.6 Broadbanding To enable telecomunicating and reducing overhead cables, broadband optic fibre conduits will be provided for in each dwelling. MR25 – Broadband optic fibre conduits will be provided for in each dwelling. Now, I have been in touch with the sales person at Botanic Ridge who has informed me: "The optic fiber network will not be used at Botanic ridge. The standard phone line is all that is required." I have not signed the contract yet, just the initial write up but Burbank homes have quoted me $2350.00 for optical prewiring of our Ascent 2500 Do I have good cause to be confused here or not? The book states that optical fibers are going in, Burbank Homes seemed pretty confident that I would need prewiring, and yet the office at BR have just told me the complete opposite!! Im not paying nearly 2.5K for a bunch of cables that will never be used. Anyone who lives there or has done optical fiber work your advice would be greatly appreciate Re: FTTH network in Botanic Ridge - Does it exist or not?? 2Nov 24, 2009 7:25 pm hello, Was that including the phone line trench as well? I think 2300 is a bit steep. It is my understanding that we have the conduit pipes only "no cable running through pipes". Call an electrician or cable guy and ask if you can run wires later. I am sure they can pull fibre cable through the existing telstra conduit when or if the optic fibre cables are supplied. I was upset when i found that i can only get adsl 1 not 2 as there are not enough phone lines yet. I have just learned today that i have to pay extra 20 dollars a month to get a little more speed. cheers i hope this helps Building a Modified Lawson Modern 29 @ Botanic Ridge, Cranbourne South, Victoria Re: FTTH network in Botanic Ridge - Does it exist or not?? 3Nov 24, 2009 8:10 pm $2350 included conduit, hub, and 4 tv / 4 data / and 4 phone points throughout the house (locations to be designated at the edge studio). A "fairly" competitve price compared to some other contractors (not the cheapest, but then I dont think Burbank will allow outside tradespeople on site during construction anyway). My point is that if we're not getting an optic fiber network in Botanic Ridge then whats the point on spending the money on the wiring to the house if it will never be used? I might as well just have the regular phone line with foxtel and a standard ADSL service. I've just built 3 stairs off a landing out the back and been told by the private certifier I need hand rails sorry tried to attach a pic but couldn't mine don't have sides… 5 5710 i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits. There's only one… 7 12774 Depends how much direct sun it gets. Is there any shading (eaves or trees)?
