Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 24, 2009 9:38 am Hi Interested in your opinions. We are building our second home, and by the time it will be completed my kids will be 41/2 and 2. (another 18months off!) Anyhoo, the main bathroom has a spa as standard, and since our ensuite doesn't have a spa, my DH wants to leave the spa in the bathroom as a feature. (who has the time or water for a spa anyway! ) I'm not sure. I really don't like the idea of the kids in the spa - too many possible dangers in my book. My DH says we can just unplug it, and at least it is there for resell (haven't even settled on the land, and he is thinking about resell! ) But being completely practical and risk averse, I want to change it to a standard bath.. What do you all think? My house and my rants.... - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26937 We are in!!!...and still unpacking. We either bathed with them in the spa (without it being on) or had a shower - we did not use the other bathroom at all except for visitors. It was nice having a spa - in saying that though we have not opted to have one in this house and just one bath - we figured if we really wanted a spa we would buy an outdoor one later! hope this helps you! (just one last point if you have a two storey house and if the spa is upstairs and it leaks then they have to chop a hole in the plaster ceiling downstairs to get to the problem!) regards Lisa PD Marina 42 Mariposa Contract signed 20 July 2009 Permits in 2 Oct 2009 Construction start 22 Oct 2009 www.broquemansion.blogspot.com Re: To spa or not to spa... 3Nov 24, 2009 2:29 pm There's a few threads on this floating around.... here's one. viewtopic.php?f=21&t=17969&p=226430&hilit=spa#p226430 I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Did you deactivate your spa or just not turn it on - did the kids ever turn it on by accident? My house and my rants.... - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26937 We are in!!!...and still unpacking. Did not deactivate it and it was a push button on the edge away from the side - kids never turned it on they were not really interested! cheers Lisa PD Marina 42 Mariposa Contract signed 20 July 2009 Permits in 2 Oct 2009 Construction start 22 Oct 2009 www.broquemansion.blogspot.com Re: To spa or not to spa... 6Nov 25, 2009 8:50 pm A spa for 1 (2 at most) in a Bathroom vs sitting in a freestanding unit on a deck, beverage of choice in hand, watching your fav sport on your flat panel tele. No contest really. Re: To spa or not to spa... 7Nov 25, 2009 9:33 pm Depends how much money you have. My spa cost $3000. Looking back now, I think I could spent that money better elsewhere. Re: To spa or not to spa... 8Nov 25, 2009 10:33 pm Got a spa in the master ensuite as standard now. Doin it again in this build. And still thinking decking in the alfresco and maybe an outdoor 6-8 seater as well in the future. Knock it down, I believe ya right outdoor is better, but I still have had a flat screen , beverage ( bottle of white and a red ) and even a pizza watching the Sunday night movie ( or I have been know to channel the DVD into the AV Cable if nothing is on-never bothered with Fox or pay TV ) inside in our corner bath spa. No Kids and we both play a lot of sport even in the winter. Outdoors not always possible even in WA weather for me. Like a dishwasher, I couldnt live without one now Lisahello, your right too. I wouldnt put one upstairs unless the builder did it and it was included in the structural warranty or something like that Luck to all. For me is the safety aspect and now having read the other threads the hygiene factor. Still not sure - unless DH puts a LCD screen in the bathroom......
