There's 2 QLD HIA contracts - a "new home construction contract" - which is not fixed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and a HIA "Peace of mind contract" which is fixed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I have told the builder I am not accepting the first contract he has sent me and want the peace of mind fixed price. The standard contract is full of options for the builder and "unforseen" issues which leave it totally open for price rises which if you do not accept you must pay the builder his costs + 20% margin Theres a heap of other issues in it too even down to the builders error and discrepnacy which you have to pay for I am hoping we can work it out, otherwise I am not going ahead Re: The NASTY HIA RED QLD CONTRACT NOT HAPPY 3Nov 27, 2009 11:36 am So I deleted a number of clauses including the "unforseen circumstances" which is basically an open ended possibility of extra costs. The builder was concerned that he would need legal advice to establish how the changes would imapct on him To cut a long story short they are now sending me the HIA Green "peace of mind" fixed price contract.
