Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 11, 2007 12:02 pm Hi,
Would just like to commend everyone on this fantastic forum. My wife and I have absorbed masses of valuable info and insights into the building process from all of you. We signed up with Metricon in Nov 06 and got our Prelim Contract in February 07 followed by the final contract in May 07. It has been a long time, however we have finally got a start date of the 19th July. We can't believe something is about to actually happen. Metricon have been generally pleasing to deal with, although in the early stages inaccuracies in the contract specifications took far too long to be resolved. I will be posting pics of our progress once the site gets cut. Re: Finally Starting - 1st Home with Metricon in BrisVegas 3Jul 11, 2007 12:32 pm Hi ricci,
We are building with Metri-con too - well about to! What plan are you building? Building for the 1st time with M3tricon Site Start was 19th July 07. It's been 2 weeks to Handover for the past 8 weeks. Go figure. So happy that you have a start date - that must be sooo exciting. We were set to build with the same people but have since swapped. Will be interested to see how you go. If it is you, we are building near each other so we can come and check out each others stages!! We are supposed to start 31st July - we can have a race! Re: Finally Starting - 1st Home with Metricon in BrisVegas 11Jul 12, 2007 9:20 am Hi BMP,
Yes it is me who left the message on your Blog...Will be good to compare progress with our homes given that we are just down the road from each other. It will be so interesting given our start dates are within 12 days of each other. Although, has Adenbrook given you guys a definite completion timeframe?? Re: Finally Starting - 1st Home with Metricon in BrisVegas 12Jul 12, 2007 9:31 am Hey Vpande,
Our experience has not been too bad, although it took an excessively long time to arrive at final contract stage. Our Cust Service Consultant has been excellent, attending to all our needs in a prompt and timely fashion. I got a call from our site supervisor just a few days ago and he sounded like a really nice chap. I am due to meet him onsite on the 19th July for the excavation. Before we got assigned a dedicated consultant, corrections in the contract took a very long time to get resolved. There were items we did not want which were added and items we had asked for were omitted. This was naturally a very frustrating period. Thankfully the finaly contract only had one minor error in it to do with the dimensions of an L-Shape feature we are having extening from the bulkhead to the floor between lounge and kitchen. My wife is planning to cover this entirely with glass mosaics, so it was imperative to get the dimensions exact. Building for the 1st time with M3tricon Site Start was 19th July 07. It's been 2 weeks to Handover for the past 8 weeks. Go figure. Re: Finally Starting - 1st Home with Metricon in BrisVegas 13Jul 12, 2007 5:48 pm Good to hear that Ricci .I am glad they agreed to what you wanted. we have had PD to reject our requirement... As with M'kon at one point we were considering to change building company due to slow responses but finally got dedicated cust serv rep- Bianca and colour cons. Tamara who have been fantastic and have got things rolling on.
Do keep us posted... the countdown has begun!!!!!!!!!!! Re: Finally Starting - 1st Home with Metricon in BrisVegas 14Jul 12, 2007 7:31 pm Hey Ricci - yes we will be in by Christmas YAY!!!!!!
We are set to race against you guys - I'm going to turn up at our site with cupcakes to egg the builders on. Who is your customer rep Ricci? We had Jon and then Andrew. Wonder if you got either one? We have to rechoose a wall colour tomorrow (i told the decorator it would throw green but she argued with me until another couple rang in to complain about their finished house with the same colour that threw green!!) and then they start ordering etc and the site will be cut within 2 weeks. Yipee The Race is On! Re: Finally Starting - 1st Home with Metricon in BrisVegas 15Jul 12, 2007 8:59 pm Hey BMP,
When we first went to see their display home, John wouldn't give away any pricing so we made an appointment to meet him on a Sunday morning before the display opened. When we got there he treated us like absolute crap to the point that while walking through the display trying to get pricing for various upgrades he said: "I don't want to put you off, but I have a hundred people outside who can afford to build this house so don't waste my time..." Then my wife snapped at him and told him what a rude ba$t@rd he had been and that we will never build with Metricon. We loved the house so much that I thought I would ring the head office and complain and ask for another rep. Finally we got Phill from internal sales and he was excellent opening the display for us after hours with little notice on numerous occassions. If it wasn't for him we would never have built with Metricon. Our cust service rep Sasha is an angel and a pleasure to deal with and the site supervisor sounds like a nice guy. We'll find out on the 19th. Cup cakes...yum I might do some of the bricking for you... The race is on... i hope we can spend Xmas there... Re: Finally Starting - 1st Home with Metricon in BrisVegas 16Jul 15, 2007 8:53 am i like the sound of your wife ricci!! Tell her that when i was finished Jon was sent to customer training on his day off. Were you like my husband and just quietly slipped away pretending not to be related Re: Finally Starting - 1st Home with Metricon in BrisVegas 17Jul 16, 2007 10:31 am Haha... Glad to hear John got the message from you as well. I can imagine M'Con have lost a lot of potential sales because of his arrogantly offensive style.
We'll have to catch up with each other on our sites when things get going...should be fun. Building for the 1st time with M3tricon Site Start was 19th July 07. It's been 2 weeks to Handover for the past 8 weeks. Go figure. good luck 18Jul 17, 2007 6:15 pm Good luck with your building with *tricon , after two years we still waiting for them to finish our house, I would spect to receive better customer service in a two dollar shop.
In our case I noticed after we signed the contract we became the enemy. . . Quite frustrating I must admit.
