As for being in by Christmas, I hope for your sake that is the case - however from my experience I was informed I would be in by last Chirstmas from the Sales guy (that was nearly 8 months ago and I am still not in) Re: Finally Starting - 1st Home with Metricon in BrisVegas 24Jul 20, 2007 10:26 am Hey there,
Met the supervisor onsite yesterday morning at 7:30am when it was about 3 degrees...freeeeezing... He was very nice and reassuring, although he said that his excavator would either be there probably later in the afternoon or on friday (today). He said the cut will definitely be done by Sat and that he has the surveyor booked for Mon and Drainage guys for Wed and is hoping to have slab by the end of the month. He basically did a comprehensive "onsite interview" explaining contact methods etc. what to do if there is a problem...what to expect during the process etc etc. As far as timeframe is concerned he said that because there is a boom at the moment, many of his tradespeople are upto 3 weeks behind, so at this stage he is saying within 6 months. He said that if it wasn't a boom period it could be done in 18 weeks; but things can change and it might be sooner but he doesn't want to indicate that to build false hope. I was quite happy with the overall meeting, although I must admit a bit disappointed that the site works hadn't started that morning as he had specified would be occurring when he arranged the meeting. Anyway, we are going to check it out tonight and tomorrow to see if it has been done... I am a bit nervous that nothing will happen and we'll be off to a very bad start to the relationship for the construction phase... You guys are definitely going to beat us...do you have the Adnebrook guaranteed site start and finish date? Building for the 1st time with M3tricon Site Start was 19th July 07. It's been 2 weeks to Handover for the past 8 weeks. Go figure. Re: Finally Starting - 1st Home with Metricon in BrisVegas 25Jul 20, 2007 6:21 pm we sure do! My husband says it was mean of me to suggest a race when we have a finish date and you guys don't. I say don't bet unless you can win I am hoping you guys get started real soon because it will be much more fun if everything is happening at the same time. Our finish date is the middle of Dec but that can change - the guarantee only means that they will pay your rent until it is finished if they run over time - i would rather be in the house.
Ricci - i know lots of people here have complaints about your Builder (heck we have a lot too) but don't let it sour your excitement. This is a great time for you and your wife and if the builder mucked up everytime they would be out of business. I will say that they were very responsive. I've heard a lot of complaints about all different builders during our search for our own and i couldn't help but thing that some of the fault ****** with the owner too. If people let their builder know that they are on the ball and won't stand for the run around - but always be polite and reasonable - then there shouldn't be room for too many problems. When we encountered our first problem with M it was because our mutual salesperson friend told us that the display home was the same size as we would get, the double shower was included as was the picture window in the family room. In truth - the bedroom was a few squares smaller and cost $2000 to upgrade, the picture window was an extra $280 and the double shower wasn't an option although we eventually got a figure of about $400. I have a fantastic secret to writing complaint letters (pm or contact thru Blog should you ever need it - but hopefully you wont) and within days all the above inclusions were free in our contract and confirmed in writing. The point being that they could have said 'bad luck you were given the wrong info' but they didn't, they were more than reasonable and very prompt with a response. It all comes down to how you approach it. So the short point is - it will all be Great. And next time we visit our block we look forward to seeing your slab!!!! Re: Finally Starting - 1st Home with Metricon in BrisVegas 26Jul 23, 2007 12:05 pm I couldn't agree with you more... My wife and I have adopted the polite but not accepting any crap approach right from the beginning and it has worked well so far. We loved the Adelphi so much that we decided it is better to compromise customer service and end up in the house you love, as opposed to going with the builder for their excellent service but not end up with a house you are passionate about.
BTW, went past the land last night and they seemed to have got off to a good start - there is a port-a-loo now on the block - I am wonderig how the surveyor who is apparently booked for today is going to go when the block isn't even cut yet... Re: Finally Starting - 1st Home with Metricon in BrisVegas 27Jul 24, 2007 9:42 am Went past the block last night and saw that nothing had been done so I SMS'd the supervisor last night asking about the cause of the delay and when we can expect something to happen.
He rang me this morning and apologised for the delay and said that they were going to do the cut on Sat/Sun but the excavator had broken down. He said that the excavator went out there this morning but pulled the pin because he thought the ground was too wet. He is apparently now aiming to do the cut tomorrow morning. The supervisor said he is still aiming to have the slab done by next week sometime. Not much more we can do but wait. Building for the 1st time with M3tricon Site Start was 19th July 07.
