I'm new here and so glad I found this place! My husband and are are first time home buyers in the Hornsby shire. We bought out place with the intention of staying and just doing the place up. However, seeing as the house is now 85 years old my husband has decided he wants to knock it down and rebuild. While it is a few years off yet (land prices need to go up a fair bit yet for us to afford it) I am glad of a place like this so i can thoroughly research what I'm getting myself into lol!
Our place is only small 400sq m but there is a lot of wasted space with the current house. We are the front property on a battle axe block, that doesn't have any common areas. My only concern with Hornsby council is they may not let us build a 2 story place on our block, and a 1 story would be a waste of time. I did find the Dwelling DCP that states
This might just get us through, as we have a 2 story house on the left, and our back neighbours driveway on the other side. Has anyone had any dealings with how flexible they are in regards to this?
We are currently looking at the Metro 29 with our block as it is quite narrow and square and by our rough measurements this property would fit nicely, but still allowing some garden at the front back and sides of the property (I've told my husband he isn't allowed to get rid of my 50 year old camellias all the way down the drive!)
Does any one know what Eden Brae are like to deal with? We were also looking at the Ascot with Rawson, but they want to charge an additional $10k just for the alfresco and extra meals room in the optional lay out, where as with the Eden Brae design it is already included. I'm looking for a company that will take care of everything, and one that is honest with pricing.
Anyway I'll shoosh, looking forwards to meeting you all.
