We're in the process of buying over the other side of the park in Stage 4. Re: Fernyhouse 85Sep 17, 2010 12:51 pm Deemaree Whoa- that looks like something from the Red Dwarf! It does too, just to change topic a little, how good is Red Dwarf, one of my all time favourite shows. I agree, it is very underrated Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Fernyhouse 89Oct 23, 2010 1:26 pm Slow seems to be the statement of the month. In the last month this has been done waterproofing paint to the wet areas insulation plastering cornices replace plastering in the 4th bedroom which was not the correct gyprock rendering and moroka finish install cornices install some doors but we are now locked out. Made aware they installed the nib wall which we had deleted for a solid wall instead (oh that was the second time we made them aware of that, the first was when the frame went in for the nib wall). However the cornice installers have worked their stuff planning for the gyprock to be put in to fix it. It's a shame it didn't get fixed when the plasterers came to do the replacement job to bedroom 4. I am in love with the quality of the plasterwork and the installation of the cornices. It looks fantastic. So slow might be the case but the quality is what I was expecting with this builder. Seems like not much in a month? We did take the step to order the dishwasher and fridge as well. Have ordered all the ceiling fans and have to wait for the temp SS to let us know they are needed so we can drop them off. Yes I did say temp SS. Ours has left and they haven't filled the position yet so another bloke is filling in. He seems on his game though and believe we will be in during December, so I'm really hoping that the next week has things motoring along quickly. I will be finishing uni next week so then concentrating on packing and getting ready to move in. Smooth sailing from here please. We also have a tenant lined up for where we live now, so hoping our deadline is reached or we could lose the tenant. Re: Fernyhouse 91Oct 23, 2010 5:18 pm Seems to be the norm with EB builds. Everything starts with a flurry and then a huge gap occurs in the middle. The same thing happened to me. My house stood still for 26 days straight after the Gyprock got delivered. Re: Fernyhouse 92Nov 08, 2010 8:53 am Hi Fernyhouse, You place is looking very nice, I think I saw it on the weekend.. I hope things pick up so you can make it in before christmas. Cheers Ako Re: Fernyhouse 94Dec 01, 2010 3:24 pm I'm so incredibly angry and disappointed in our build this week. It's week 26 so you would think with all the time Eden Brae puts in to their "buildsure" guarantee with spin on guaranteed completion date that the house would be at least close to finishing, even with a couple of weeks extra for rain time perhaps. The sales pitch we received that was around our realistic build time rather than a 13 or 16 weeks which gets stretched out to 25. Our house is barely past lockup and has had minimal things since lockup. I've heard several times from 3 different site supervisors "oh we can't get tradies" Well get your act together Eden Brae, get the tradies on board and get the work done. If I can line up a painter within a week then I can't understand why a volume builder can't get painters in. Why can't the plumber start work before the painting is finished. It's not like the tap fittings are preventing any paintwork. We've paid for the internal fit out weeks ago and we are seeing nothing for that. I'm so incredibly angry that we were told early on that we were ahead of schedule, then when the brickie seemed to take forever still got told it's not a problem because we were ahead of schedule. Well we are far behind schedule now. Lets not mention the mistakes along the way either. It's costing us thousands for the delay now, interest rates, furniture that has been ordered and ready and waiting for delivery. We gave it leeway for delivery the week before Christmas, we even checked with the site supervisor to see if we were likely to get in the house at the beginning of December before we ordered the furniture. It's all crap that they speak it seems because the results really tell the story. No house this week and not even a sign of it looking like it will be completed before Christmas. So therefore it really means February. So we have to get our stuff delivered to a storage shed. Not happy EB, you have really let me down. Re: Fernyhouse 95Dec 01, 2010 3:35 pm Looks like we both had disappointing news, I am sorry that they are taking so long on your house, I have been past a number of times and would have thought it would be finished by now. The land developer just advised us today that the land won't be ready till April now, so we will be lucky to be in by Christmas 2011. Building a house in a new development seems to be a test of patience. Re: Fernyhouse 96Dec 01, 2010 6:55 pm I hear you Ferny, I hear you! At least you haven't paid more than the deposit yet. I've been watching council applications and haven't seen the land registration come up yet. We considered waiting for 3B as they said April but I was hesitant and I'm glad we went with our block now. Did you notice the single story next door that started 4 months after ours is now at the same stage as us. Not happy Jan. Happy for our neighbor though. I'll be very unhappy if he is in before us though Re: Fernyhouse 98Dec 02, 2010 5:17 pm Finally some progress when I visited today. Action stations with the painter and plumbing has been installed. Although I noticed the fridge point is missing and I assume that is because the painting needs to be done first. Shame the plumber will need to return just for that though. So nice to see a bath full of water. I need to go hunting for grout sealant as well. If we do by chance get the house before Christmas now DH won't be available to take time off work so if we don't move in straight away that will give me time to get it all sealed. Otherwise I was going to madly spend 24 hours with no sleep to get it all done. Can you see I'm still hopeful and even optimistic we get the house before Christmas. Re: Fernyhouse 99Dec 02, 2010 5:19 pm Eerie moment also wondering if someone from EB read my message and got the action stations going but I do expect it was actually our new SS. He does seem to be calling in the action since he started a week or two ago. We also got a call from the electrician with their new booking date. Our anxiety that it would be a day neither of us would be available to deliver the fans are eased now too. Re: Fernyhouse 100Dec 02, 2010 7:55 pm I can't believe you are not in yet. After the DA was approved and the Building Cert issued they should have provided you with a contract start date. You can work out from there how far in breach they are so that you can claim your costs for your current rental property. I see you have had a change in SS. It appears that most EB builds, (Me included) have at least one change in SS during the contract lifecycle. I hope they get their act together. I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 1936 Hey There. No problems re jumping in. My original question was "should I have waterproofed" the concrete slab before putting batons down. We have been told we should… 7 4328 interesting situation what happened after builder issued final invoice? did you list as defect or not does the building surveyor have any responsibility? ie. issuing… 13 46965 |
