Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 20, 2009 7:16 am hi all, I have a design we are just trying to finalise. We have had to make changes to reduce price and get in budget - I'd love some feedback on a couple of things I'm a bit unsure on. 1.We made the carport smaller (centre of house) which has resulted in a extra hip(on the roof -left side of carport) . Wondering if I should made the carport wider again to remove hip - or if this looks OK or even better??? 2. We orginally had the verandah under roof line ( I thought that would be easier for the builder/ thus cheaper.), but been told can save $5K by making the Verandah seperate. New drawings below are seperate. I like it seperate, but now i'm wondering if I should remove the dutch gables (as we are mixing colonial with Federation type features).. welcome peoples thoughts???, If I remove the gables - should I do anything else to maintain facade features (We have manor red roof and Boral Designer split face blocks - almond colour) Thank-you. It just seems out of place, it would look better symmetrical I reckon. The verandah is personal preference. I don't mind how it looks in the drawing, and if it saves you 5k that's a bonus. How did it look otherwise? With the roof continuing straight into the verandah in one section and not curved? I like it seperate, but I don't reckon I'd have it bullnose. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Anyone have a view on the dutch gables - would you remove them altogether (seem I'm probably mixing periods with gables and curved verandah)? cheers G'day I'm trying to put in some privacy screening on my rental rooftop on a tight budget. I've already invested about $500 in the supplies for this. The issue is… 0 31413 Thank you so much for the effort. We will use it to talk with builder. We also had idea of building duplex instead and seeking suggest ions. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=106744 11 10740 Once you know the basics, the rest is easy.
