Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 14, 2011 12:30 pm I was just wondering what your thoughts were on installing ducted aircons cost wise? Should I: A) just install ducting and leave connecting unit until later B) install the whole lot and be done with it C) Leave it until later and have someone else come in and fit the ducting and unit after handover Which which be the most inexpensive and efficient method? Re: What's your opinion on aircon before or after the build? 2Mar 14, 2011 1:53 pm My opinion would be that it would be more cost effective and efficient to install during the build process. Anything such as ducting, wiring etc that can be done prior to finalising the house will be cheaper then getting someone out after the fact, and of course a lot less stressful/messy when everything is finished. But then again it goes on can you afford to have the whole unit installed now? If not then getting the ducting now and putting in unit may be more beneficial to you. However if it was me (and I'm looking right now to build) I will be getting air conditioning done now and get it over with, its all there and I can rest in peace without having to have people come out later to fix/add things later. Also, you have to then organise it to be installed, I know it sounds petty, but waiting around for tradesmen is frustrating! lol. Simply because the included aircon @$4k~ was a a pretty crappy unit..I could get a much better unit privately for the same / less cost.. Thanks for the suggestion.
