Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 10, 2007 6:01 am Hey,
I was wondering if anybody could help me out. We are trying to figure out if there is something that exsist out there, that states what is acceptable building works. For thinks like wall not being straight, door frames not aligning, all those little bits and pieces. What right have we got in complaining and asking for it to be fixed? There must be a standard aout there that say's the maximum a wall can be out of wack is 5mm or something. I hope i am making sense, if not let me know and i will try to reword it. Re: Building codes and standards 3Jul 10, 2007 7:31 am Hi French_gal - these standards are set by the Dept of Fair Trading here in NSW. It's called the Guide to Standards and Tolerances:
http://www.buildingcommission.com.au/re ... IDE_07.pdf This is used for any construction - homes and apartments. We had some cracking in our apartment - the builder came around and examined the defects in accordance with this document. They are legally required to fix anything that is classified as a defect according to this. E.g. cracks must be a certain size. It also provides details on how the defects are to be rectified. Don't think they are designed for double brick. WA has a particular way of building and unfortunately that's the way a large amount of sills are finished. 3 7014 I believe this is correct. From the picture you can see the power was put in last so the electrician knew where the water was. Really it's a common sense issue more… 4 5161 2 8648 |
