Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 15, 2009 1:34 pm I've been searching and searching and have come across only to about 3 sites (championhomes and another I cant remember) that have duplex house plans. I'm actually looking in particular for something wide, as the duplex will be across 2 lots of land, so plenty of space in width (about 30). Reason to building a duplex instead of 2 seperate new houses is due to costs reasons. We're looking 4 bedrooms in each, so s double storey duplex. Anyone have any recommendations on some sites I should visit or feedback in regards to this 'idea'? You will have to get an Architect to design your Duplex. In my experience, 2 separate Project Homes will be cheaper (40plus squares) than an architect designed Duplex anyways, so do your research as you will find it is cheaper to build 2 homes with 4 bedrooms (project home builder). For example this 36sq home is only $208k, even add 92k to make it $300 000 total (not sure if you'd get nearly 100k in extra's) will be considerably cheaper than a Dupex build if it's designed by an Architect. http://www.clarendon.com.au/Homes/Detai ... state=nsw# You could even go for a smaller single story 4 bedroom home and save yourself alot!
