Frame is going up...and overhangs 26Mar 13, 2010 3:13 pm I went back to the house this afternoon to take some measurements. I confirm that the bottom plates of the frame overhang the concrete slab by 2cm to 3cm at the right side of the house and 1cm to 2cm at the back... I will give F a call on Monday, and book our independent inspector first thing Monday morning (we were thinking not to use him for the frame stage, but we will!)...it has to be fixed as the Australian standard is 1cm tolerance for an overhang (Building Code of Australia)... I will let you know of the outcome. Otherwise, I checked the levels and they seem all good... Ciao Re: WISDOM ASPIRATION 35. Frame ! 27Mar 20, 2010 8:40 am Hi, The frame is all up and it's looking good. (pics on the blog) I rang V our SS (I learnt that F wasn't our SS but V was...) to inquire about the frame overhanging the slab, and he told me last Monday that he would check and let me know a couple of days later... I haven't received 1 phone call. On the other hand, Wisdom is very organised when it comes to send invoices, as I got one for the frame stage by email and one by mail this week. ... at least we don't waste any time there! I know that they will fix the overhanging problem we have, we just don't know how or when. Our independent inspector should give us some precise info about our frame next week (I hope Monday). ciao Re: WISDOM ASPIRATION 35. Oh no, that's the one time they DON'T waste anytime...you don't even have to call them to ask where it is Hope they get back to you about the overhang before the next invoice Just checked out your blog...wow, that house is going to be awesome!!! Your girls are gorgeous and they looked pretty happy with the slab Re: WISDOM ASPIRATION 35. Wet Update 29Jun 01, 2010 9:45 pm It's been a while since I've posted here, so I'm gonna give a few updates on our "Wisdom Homes" house built: Positive things: - Bricking finished (looking good) - Roof started, I would say 70% completed - Render on facade started (good job, not painted yet) Other less positive things: - 2 wrong windows have still not been replaced after several requests over the past 2 months. - Frame overhanging the slab has not been fixed (and will not be) as requested on one part of the house. - Back of the house still not protected from rain, no sarking, no roof tiles, so the timber gets damaged. - Several days of good weather were not worked before the bricking started. We like the house that takes shape before our eyes, Wisdom is doing a good job overall, but on the slow side unfortunately... We have the feeling that we could have got up to lock-up stage before all that rain, but "c'est la vie"... I hope that this rain will give us (all of us building in Sydney!!) a break, and that some work can be done !! I have more info on the blog (updated weekly) Re: WISDOM ASPIRATION 35. Wet Update 30Jun 02, 2010 9:02 am Hi Fred, With the frame overhang check out the Standards and Tolerances Guide, published by the NSW Dept of Fair Trading. From memory 10mm is acceptable. http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/Tenants_and_home_owners/Home_building_and_renovating/The_building_process/Guide_to_standards_and_tolerances.html If they still don't want to fix it, I'd suggest you request sign off by their structural engineer. All sorted guys. Just needed to buy a blade with the correct bush. Dunno how to delete this post, can't find any help file. Cheers. 1 3663 Hi, guys!
