Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 13, 2009 12:57 pm Am wondering if anyone has installed the Hills Central Vac 1600 ducted vacuum system that Plantation uses. If yes are you happy with it. Hills keeps directing me to an installer who just will not answer any questions on this product (keeps trying to sell another brand). I want to know if it is suitable/powerful enough for a 2 storey 34sqm home and reputable. It seems comparable to some other brands except it only has a 2 year warranty whereas others have 5 or more. Also it has been 4 weeks since our colours and contract appt. We are still waiting on the prices for the few colours upgrades and a correct PCV (first 2 had missed out some changes). Did anyone else have such a long wait - is this normal? Plus our "administrator" seems to be not returning calls or emails - am getting frustrated here!!! Re: Plantation Builders Qld (and everyone else)- advice please!! 2Nov 13, 2009 1:44 pm Hi There. Can't help you on the Vac as we did not go for one of those but anything else I would consider myself somewhat of an expert by now on Plantation Homes. We went through a very long admin stage (7 new home proposals and many PCV's) and I can confirm that the delays are normal. Good news though, the actual building of the house was relatively stress free in comparison. With regards to your administrator not calling back, I think it depends on who you get. You will probably find the same thing with the Site Supervisor. Thankfully ours was very good and a pleasure to deal with. Hope it all goes well for you. Re: Plantation Builders Qld (and everyone else)- advice please!! 6Nov 15, 2009 8:27 pm Hi I am building with plantation in QLD and have the same problems. We have been on PCV's for 7 weeks now and everything seems so slow. We have no chance of getting our slab down before christmas... Our admin is good but extremely slow and doesn't really understand my emails. I have to ring her and explain things to her everytime. I am hoping the build process should be smoother.. touchwood. Re: Plantation Builders Qld (and everyone else)- advice please!! 7Dec 11, 2009 7:50 pm Our Kato BK1 was finished in June this year. We got the alarm system from the Plantation supplier, PM Systems. The owner was fantastic when he came to commission everything after hand over. He even does monitoring for $5 per week with no contracts. We had a surround sound system wired in by these guys as well and they can and connected everything up as well. Didn't get the Vac option though. We were going through the process your are in now this time last year. You need to get as much done as possible before the shut down period starts. It was frustrating having to put everything on hold for basically a month. I would suggest that you triple check your colours documentation is correct. We got a nasty shock when the painter stained our front door a brown colour instead of the red colour needed to match our roller door. There was an error on the colour documents. Plantation were good and replaced the door in the end but we had to opt for a painted door and frame rather than a stained. Good luck. A survey must’ve completed by a certified surveyor.
