Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 13, 2009 12:25 am Being an IT Geeky kind of guy I came across this very cool website
http://www.nearmap.com/ Basically it's like Google Maps, but with better quality pictures, and even better the chance to see all the different times your block has been photographed. So you can see the progress of your build condensed into a few seconds, with just a few clicks Sweet Re: Watch your Build Evolve from the Air! (Or Something!) 2Nov 13, 2009 7:46 am Thanks for this link. Just checked out our new estate. Our block of land hasn't even started yet so will be great to follow progress. I'm sure others will enjoy following their builds. A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. (Or Something!) 3Nov 13, 2009 8:45 am The images are really clear ....Pity that it doesn't cover the whole Melbourne metro area. I can see our old house, but it seems the limit is about 3km north of there, so there are no pics of our estate or any of the others around here. Oh well, I've had a good squizz at the old place and now I know the new owner has: - Pulled out our rotary clothes line and put in a fold-down one - Ripped out the veggie garden - Cut down the peppermint gum down by the back fence (wonder if she salvaged the gorgeous hybrid clematis that grew up it?) - Cut down the almond tree Maybe the cockies drove her nuts.... - Added some shrubs here and there - Put a hand railing alongside the four steps in the front yard Stickybeak, aren't I? Re: Watch your Build Evolve from the Air! (Or Something!) 4Nov 13, 2009 10:59 am kek Stickybeak, aren't I? Aren't we all! If we weren't would we be so addicted to this site! The site is done here in Perth, so I think the coverage here is better than over East. I had a look at where some friends live, and there have been about 30 photos taken in the last 2 years, with the last less than 2 weeks ago. The site only went live on Monday, so don't know how often they will be updating now. May have to try and find out though! (Or Something!) 8Nov 13, 2009 3:56 pm That is awesome!!! The latest pic of our house was taken about 1.5 weeks ago. Once the frame was complete, but before they had done sit cleanup or the hebel power panel was delivered =))))) It is so clear!!! Google maps still shows the house that was previously on our block - several months before it was demolished when it was still tenanted. The tenants cars are still in the driveway. Thanks HEAPS for sharing that link! Re: Watch your Build Evolve from the Air! (Or Something!) 9Nov 13, 2009 4:00 pm somewoman That is awesome!!! Google Maps drives me crazy. People have been living in our street for a year and ahlf. It's been in the street directory for the last 3 editions, and yet we don't exist according to Google. And since most GPS systems seem to rely on Google Maps, nobody can find us either. Doesn't anyone know how to read a street directory any more? Re: Watch your Build Evolve from the Air! (Or Something!) 20Nov 14, 2009 3:18 pm That is awesome. I wonder why the website isn't more publicly known. Now I just have to take a screen shot, so I can have aerial photos of the progress of our build too. Thank you so much for sharing!
