Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 11, 2009 9:37 pm My house is about to complete and we just noticed that somewhere in our bedroom's wall is making a noise - much like some loose paper flapping - it's noticeable only when the wind is blowing strong averaged about 20-30kmh towards the direction to the face of the bricks. The noise is not noticeable when there is no wind blowing or when it's not blowing much. I happened to be able to locate one of the gaps in between the bricks and the top metal planks of the windows (from outside the house) that i suspect the wind travels in and blows the loose wrap paper inside. The supervisor said that the only way to fix it is to apply sealant or caulk the gap to prevent the wind from getting inside - but i'm not quite satisfied with the solution because it doesnt fix the actual problem and i'm afraid that it's not the only gap the wind travels in. The only proper solution I would imagine is to either remove the bricks from the outside and have a look inside, or make a cut on the plasterboard from the inside and have a look inside. But the supervisor insists that applying caulk is the only way to fix it. Has anyone experienced anything like this and what would you do in this situation and whether i should call Building Commission to ask their opinion on the proper way to fix it? Please help!! It's been bothering me since I encountered the problem and I haven't been able to sleep well at night because of this =(. Re: HELP please! Noise coming from inside plastered wall 2Nov 11, 2009 10:51 pm Your supervisor is right. If it is a bit of plastic from the window frames then you just need to stop the wind getting in. No builder will dismantle a wall. Or part thereof just for that. Make a trip to bunnings get yourself a caulking gun and a tube of selleys all clear and off u go. All fixed.
