Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 11, 2009 2:09 pm Hi Everyone I have 2 questions and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this process or basically could answer them for me. Thanks in advance guys. I'm a First Home Owner so I think I have to have a slab down within 26 weeks of signing the contract. For me, this is 24th September this year. Is this right? Our builder has been doing what he can with variations but when we asked today about ceiling insulation and termitgard, they said it was too late to make any more changes to BASIX. Of course, we would be in danger of meeting the 26 week of the First Home Owners Grant, but I didn't realise that apparently for project home builders, in order for them to keep their costs down, they have a cutoff point. Apparently, custom builders are different hence the premium pricing. So, 1. Is it 26 weeks for FHOG to complete a slab? 2. Is there a cutoff point to submitting the BASIX? I can't seem to see anything in the contracts. We don't really have a time pressure apart from the FHOG commitments to get this built. I think this builder is getting a little peeved off that we keep making changes. I thought since we are paying for them we would have the final say in everything. So, what do you think? cheers, cheers Berny ----------------------------------------------------- http://serenityattheponds.blogspot.com/ Before you rip it up, if you can in the grout lines, drill some holes and pour/inject techgrip by sika. I have used it to bond mdf to timber, but in the process it dripped… 1 4284 PM me your email. I have a build excavation calculator you can use based on your plans to double check what your builder is telling you.
